Scan update

I had my scan today after being on Menopur for a week. I was concerned cause I haven’t had pains. Unfortunately I only had one follicle above 10cm. There were 6 small ones that hopefully will grow. I’ll get a call tomo with a plan. They think my age is against me, 39! Very disappointed. But still time for them to grow so need to start thinking positively again. Anyone else had this scenario? X

Your clinic might up your dose of drugs or give you another few days of stimulation to help give those follicles some extra time to grow. All is definitely not lost. Fingers crossed for you xx

Thank you. It is dis-heartening to not have a positive scan. But realise it’s still early days. I would like them to up my meds. I find out tomo their plan. Xx

Try not to worry and keep hydrated and have lots of protein. Mine always took nearly 2 weeks to get to a good size. Good luck!

Ive just had ET and didnt really have any pain whilst my follicles were growing. Dont worry. Different peoples bodies react in different ways. Mine was also very slow.

I’m 39 too. At day six I didn’t have any over 10mm I don’t think, I had a few more at day 8 and I triggered on day 11 on my last round. I was on gonal-f as well as Menopur as that seems to work better for me. In the end I had 13 eggs retrieved, of which ten were mature and four went to blast. They might increase your drug dose to help you along a bit, but it’s early days to be worrying too much, let the medical team worry whilst you keep looking after yourself xx

Ps rumours are that a hot water bottle on your abdomen can help them to grow x

Thank you Lizzie for your reply. That’s really positive to hear. I hope today when they call they will suggest a higher dose of Menopur. I’ve not heard of the other drug you are on, I’ll ask them about it. How are you doing now? I have been googling foods to eat to help growth! I’ll try and hot water bottle too. Thank you xx

I’m still waiting to find out if any of my frozen blasts are normal, they’ve been biopsied to see if they have inherited a chromosome condition from us. So I can’t tell you the end of my journey yet!

Good luck for your next scan. I doubt they’ll put you on a different drug for this round, I’d expect they’d just up your existing drug, but might be worth asking about a drug change if you do end up doing this again (fingers crossed you won’t need to).

Hi, they called my today. I am staying on injections till Tuesday and then a scan. They won’t up my dosage on this cycle x
