Low AMH high FSH

ā€¢11 Replies

Hello ladies,

Just wondered if anyone out there has had a success story with similar results to mine, my last results were terrible AMH was 0.4 šŸ˜žAnd FSH 35, doc told me Its early menopause but there's still hope to try naturally as I'm still ovulating but my best shot is egg donation anyone with similar results?its so depressing I feel like I've done something wrong to have such terrible statistics, I feel so young as well I'm 37 and been trying for 4 years and feel like if only I'd started earlier, if only I knew.

Thanks xxx

Hi lovely,

Iā€™m similar to you - low amh and high fsh. At 32 I was told I have amh of 2.2 and fsh 22.5. Was also told I would have next to no chance with my own eggs.

I would say maybe donā€™t give up just yet on your own eggs, but probably chances are low. I have done 2 ivfs in maximum dose drugs and both failed.

Few eggs and not good enough quality to make good enough embryos.

I have been taking dhea and high dose ubiquinol (600mg per day), and daily inositol as well as normal conception friendly vitamins, and I have as a total surprise after the ivfs conceived naturally twice recently, more than 2 years after starting ttc, but both ended at 5 weeks. Iā€™m assuming that whilst I have improved my egg quality, it is still poor. My fsh has come down to 9 which is good news. Havenā€™t retested amh and that number is from more than 18 months ago. Iā€™ve since paid for 3 rounds of natural modified ivf which is good for low amh levels, you could try a few months on the dhea though before considering that? I havenā€™t managed to start my natural ivf due to the two conceptions in october and January.

Iā€™m more open to donor eggs now, although the thought still upsets me, Iā€™m starting to feel it might be my only option.

I understand how you feel, itā€™s such a shock, and I really suffered for the first 12 months after being diagnosed with low ovarian reserve. Iā€™m here if you need any support xxxx

Hiya, Thanks for your reply, I was told you couldn't change your FSH or eggs, my last doctor, the 9th one I've seen told me he wouldn't even bother (his exact word) which really hurt me, but he said with my FSH it's pointless, but now i am Seeing a much nicer doctor who in seeing on Thursday, sometimes I dont know how to feel, I'd like to use my eggs but I feel I can get my head around a donor. This is such a hard journey and untill I joined this site I genuinely thought I was the only women my age with these results, sounds naive but I honestly did, thanks for sharing with me I feel stronger for it X

You honestly can bring your fsh down, thatā€™s really wrong for them to say that! Dhea contributes towards it - mine went from 22 to 14 to 17 to 12 to 11 to 9 testing each couple of months. It means you will respond better to drugs if it lowers (thatā€™s what I was told by consultant).

I havenā€™t quite got my head around donor eggs 100% but I know Iā€™m definitely willing to go there eventually.

I had my follow up yesterday and feel a lot more positive and start the first natural ivf in around 2 weeks so I guess you can see how I find it! Iā€™ll send you a private message about my clinic as they specialise in low amh and poor responders xx

Hi Myhope

I had a very low amh and high fsh . I was told that donor egg was the only route. I however tried ivf with my own eggs. It resulted that I had very few eggs but quality was very good. My third cycle (2 fresh, one frozen) resulted in my little boy.

I think it is reasonable to look st donor egg but quantity does not necessarly means quality and I think it is worth to try with your eggs first.

Keep being positive! Best of luck xx

thanksnfor your reply, so do you think I should ask the doctor to try with my eggs first? Shall I push him as I feel like he has the mind set that donor is my only chance, I'd like to at least try tho I think.

Hi Myhope

It is a very personal decision but I think you should. Doctors made me feel really naive because I wanted to try with my own egg but then they were surprised with result. Amh gives an indication of quantity and not necessarily of quality. If you can I would try xx

I had low AMH 4.2? i think (4 years ago)? i was a very poor responder to IVF only had 2 follicles during stimming and at egg collection only 1 egg! It didnt even fertilize so we went straight onto donor eggs. Once you make the decision with donor eggs you do get your head around it. We had that 1 go with my eggs then 3 goes with donor eggs and it was the 3rd go that im currently pregnant with a singleton. I and not bothered in the slightest now that it was a donor egg. My body is making this baby and it feels like its been mine all along :)

Thanks for your reply, im sure if it worked for me I wouldn't care, I have so much to give I really want to make the decision and get started it feels like there is so much waiting!!!

If there is a chance with your eggs itā€™s better than no chance at all. As you know Iā€™m going be donating my eggs, itā€™s for reasons like this. I see it as a gift to give somebody, a person who has struggled or cannot conceive who has a heart of gold and the means to give a child a wonderful life. Itā€™s scary for me, but I know once the eggs are gone they are no longer mine and they are a new beginning for someone else xx
