Feeling deflated

Hi ladies,

Im in need of some positive stories, just got back from my 1st scan after 6 days of stimming and they could only see 2 small follicles, said they would have hoped for more development as on max dose of menopur, got to go back Fri and Mon for more scans but if they havent seen development by Monday will have to abandon cycle and said nothing they can do after that as already on max dose, I was in tears with the nurse and she said to stay positive but struggling right now xx

Hi Claire, hang on in there - lots of water and hot water bottles over the next few days!! I had a tough baseline scan where they could only find 2 follicles - was then on max dose of Gonal F & ended up having to stim for 4 days longer than planned but we got 10 eggs in the end!!

Wishing you the best of luck!! 🤞🏻 xx

Hoping things will improve for you Claire. You are doing all you can. Keeping my fingers crossed for you xx

That might be what the nurse said but I was a poor responder on menopur and I’ve done much better on mostly gonal-f with a little menopur added in. Apparently gonal-f is a more expensive drug but I have still been prescribed it on the nhs (not sure if you’re funded or not). Push to speak to a consultant about it before accepting that it’s all over forever... this cycle might not be the one but hopefully you’d be able to have another.

Ps what do they say is max dose of menopur? I was on 225 per night on my first, not very successful round. This round I’ve been on 300iu gonal-f and 75iu menopur. The gonal-f did go down a little in the last few days, but not much.

Ps again, I’m 39 and got 16 eggs this time, with ten mature enough for icsi.

That is fantastic news, when are you next booked in?

I'm 40 so self funding and on 300 Menopur, its really reassuring to hear other stories, and your right I shouldn't accept that there is no chance. Going to do whatever I can over next few days.

Good luck x

I’m now waiting to see how many eggs fertilise but it’s a “freeze all” cycle so I won’t have to do anything else for a little while.

Good luck for the next few days, I hope you get some lovely eggs xx

in reply toLizzielizzielizzie

Apologies got it wrong,im on 300 bemfola and 150 menopur!

Am not medical but am certain that they (or another clinic) could give you different meds on a new cycle that could have a much better result). Fingers crossed this cycle will be a go-er though. 🤞🏻

Hey clairenix, my situation isnt exactly same as yours and i am on different meds but after an initial decent 1st scan, my 2nd scan did show that my follicles were too small and i had to take meds for a few more days. I had a third scan on tuesday and was told the extra days made all the difference, i am having EC tomorrow morning. Ive been drinking lots of boiled water (left to cool slightly so i dont burn myself, lol), organic eggs, avocado, brazil nuts, 85% chocolate, pom juice, pineapple, hummus, spinach, kale. Not sure if any of these have made a jot of difference but persevering anyway xx

So sorry to hear this,if it's any consolation,I had issues too after taken 450 iu of menopur for 10 days and my second scan wasn't too impressive, but thank God by the next day the doctor could see 16 follicles
