Just started IVF

Hi, just joined the group so not 100% sure what I'm doing yet! Husband and I have been TTC unsuccessfully for a number of years, all tests came back fine so unexplained really. Started the buserelin injections on NYD, so far so good I think. Had a period about a week in which I was told I might have but bleeding lasted longer than normal and ever since I've been spotting. Quick search on here suggests its normal so thats reassuring. Not too many side effects thankfully, mainly hot flushes and headaches on a morning but I've had that flu like bug so I could be doing the side effects an injustice lol! Would love to hear from others going through a similar situation x

Hi 👋,

Same position as you. Started on the 3rd Jan- long cycle. I assume you are too?

Have going ok.. hubs doing them but I am away one night next week for work so will have to do them myself.

Only thing I've had is my teeth/gums aching. Although I have just got over the horrible cold flu so didn't know if it's just because I am run down.

First scan tomorrow.. there is a really good forum on fertility friends (Dec/Jan cycles) which I have joined and learnt lots from.

We're male factor so doing ICSI. What about you? Glad to know it's well for you! Xxx

Hi, thanks for your reply 😚

Yeah we're long cycle too.

Glad the injections have been going okay for you, my hubby's been doing mine too so it's been great, this morning I had to do my own for the first time, it went well tbh, I just made sure I didn't think about it too much otherwise I'd have really struggled. You'll be absolutely fine, don't let your mind get carried away with itself beforehand, it has to be done so just do it as soon as its prep'd.

Same as me, it's difficult to differentiate isn't it, maybe a good thing though!

Oh wow, tomorrow, mine is Wednesday, hopefully we're both progressing how we should be.

I'll check that out, thanks for the heads up.

We're unexplained, I have a potential tube blockage but Consultant thinks it's more likely a false negative and that the other tube was just easier for the dye to access on the day, without tests we'll not know. Hubby got the all clear so we're having them mixed in the dish, hopefully they get on in there!

Thanks, glad it's going well for you too, let me know how your scan goes tomorrow xxx

I started xmas day so about a week ahead of you. It’s my third cycle so I feel like an old hand. Feel free to pm me if you have any questions I might be able to help with x

I started Christmas Day too! And I’m on my second cycle of ICSI, I have my first scan this morning and am more nervous than I thought I’d be! I’m hoping for EC next week sometime.

Good luck to all of you and keep us posted on how it’s all going xxx

Oh how exciting! I hope your scan showed you were where you wanted to be, and your plan for EC next week is still on. Best of luck, let us know how you got on xx

Ah thank you, I’ve not been as excited as last time but I’m trying to keep positive.

The scan was ok, they only saw 5 follicles which is just a little less than my first round but have grown quickly apparently so I’m taking that as a good sign! I was kind of hoping for a few more maybe as I know it’s unlikely all follicles produce nature eggs then not all mature eggs fertilise and make it to embryo/blastocyst but I’m just gonna go with it and try not to worry.

The clinic will ring me later to let me know if collection is early next week or if they want to do another scan first. I’ll keep you posted!

And I meant to say before, my symptoms have been very similar to yours, I’ve had slight headaches and dizziness and have been extra thirsty on the buserelin and my bleed lasted longer than a normal period with spotting for over a week after which is unheard of for me. Since I’ve started injections I’ve been more tired and a little emotional the last few days but nothing too unbearable. I hope you don’t feel too bad and feel a bit reassured that it’s all ‘normal’ (is there such a thing!) xx

I think it's only natural that you're not as excited second time round, the second time of doing most things isn't as exciting as the first, novelty wears off, you know what's coming next, etc. think of the first time you did a proper grown up food shop when you moved out, so new and exciting, second time not so much lol! Not as excited doesn't mean it won't lead on to super exciting news!!!!! Definitely try to stay as positive as you can and most importantly, just chill, what will be will be, pointless getting stressed and worried along the way, I know it's easier said than done but that's what we're here to help with.

Yes, take it as a good sign, worrying won't make more eggs appear it'll just drive you crazy! I'm a total worrier but I've promised myself that I'm not going to stress over this (although I may have to be reminded of this later down the line!!).

Oh thanks for letting me know, it's so interesting to hear how others are coping with it all and definitely reassuring to hear it's 'normal'.

Keeping everything crossed for you Franco81 xx

Wishing you lots and lots of luck. Hopefully the headaches will ease off when you start your stimulation phase injections. They are not nice, so draining. I’ve had a headache most days, all day now for the past few weeks 🤕

When do your stims begin? xx

Aww thanks Dunla, and the same to you too. Headaches are rubbish, I hope yours subsides soon.

I have first scan on Wednesday and if all goes to plan I start stims the next day.

How far into the process are you? xx

Yes i hope the headaches subside too, they’ve been especially bad last few days. I’m on round 5 at present. Big week next week so keeping everything crossed 🤞🏻 x
