We started TTC in the early 2012, but it always failed miserably. After several months and many trips to our family doctor and specialists, nobody could tell us why it was not happening. I had three different surgeries to find out the reason why I’m not getting pregnant. But nothing was found. Even due to surgeries, one of my fallopian tubes was damaged and it had to be removed. We found many fertility clinics here in Canada. But they were just way too expensive for us.
We were lucky that we found some affordable clinics. There we tried many IUIs and had 2 unsuccessfully IVFs. After 5 long years, I was diagnosed with unexplained infertility. We also started to look into child adoption, but my husband didn’t like this idea. Many people including our doctor have suggested us for surrogacy. We met a couple last week who had their first child through surrogacy. They live here in Canada. But they went to Ukraine for surrogacy. I’ve heard that surrogacy is quite expensive in US and Canada. Is it really a good idea to go abroad for surrogacy?

I think it doesn't make much difference as long as they are able to get us what we're desperately looking for. In fact over my copious amount of internet research, I've found that reproductive is tourism is, in fact, one of the most opted medical tourism. There are a few countries who have come up in the recent years with a breakthrough in assisted fertility. Our concern for looking for a switch is, however, financial - being 36 any IVF further will be self-financed. So, we're looking for alternatives.
Here are a few things you should check if at all you're considering surrogacy abroad.
1. The legal norms. Some countries have some special requirements for surrogacy process.
2. What is the coverage available for multiple tries, I'd advice to select from that.
3. Also, check that what are the liabilities of the clinic wrt failure of the process due to Surrogate mother's negligence.

Surely Sophie! It is a reasonable idea to go abroad for surrogacy. I live in Canada too and had been TTC for the last 6 years. I have been consulting local clinics for my treatment up till now. My second husband decided to visit Ukraine for treatment due to their affordability and expertise. So, we emailed a few clinics in Ukraine to get initial information about facilities and treatment expenditure. We came across some careless and negligent clinics like L***s who didn't even bother to respond to us. We kept emailing them on daily basis for weeks but we got zero response. Fortunately, in our quest, we found an amazing clinic there. They not only shared all required information but also answered all our queries. They even allowed us to do the necessary tests from a local clinic and share our scanned reports via email. We did visit this clinic recently and we were quite delighted by the warm welcome. They are very cooperative and are willing to allow us to visit occasionally. We have already signed our surrogacy contract with the clinic. We are currently finalizing our SM to carry our baby. I think you should also give it a try. Our visit was totally worth it!
It is totally a reasonable idea to visit a clinic abroad. You heard it right. Ukrainian clinics offer the best and most affordable treatment. I live in Ireland and I myself am referring to a clinic in Ukraine. Just be a bit cautious while choosing clinic as there are many clinics that deceive patients. I had such an experience with L***s clinic. They are very irresponsible and unprofessional in their approach.
Hey, I hope you are doing good. I am so sorry for you. I know you are in so much pain. But I think there is nothing to be worried about. Surrogacy is a good process if you want to go for it. It is not risky at all. Infertility takes a lot out of a woman. I am so sorry you have been through a lot. I think now you should go for the treatment you are comfortable with. In many clinics, IVF and IUI are quite expensive. They cannot handle the complications of this treatment. Well, IVF success depends on the clinic you choose.
