My wife had eģg collection yesterday. 8 eggs collected. The embryologist has just called to arrange for me to have a two day transfer as only 2 eggs have fertilised. Feeling a bit dispondent and disappointed We are both 28 and feel like we are clinging on to last hope for this cycle. It is our first go at ivf and obviously has not completely gone to plan (it took over a week and two increases in menopur to get follicles to start growing). I know it only takes 1 to stick though so fingers crossed these two make it until tomorrow.
I am not sure if they will let us transfer two if they both make it until tomorrow, given our age they had said only 1 at consent signing. Not sure if to try to push for them both to be transferred? Any thoughts or advice?
Thanks

Congratulations on 2 fertilised eggs! I'm on my 3rd cycle and have come to realise that the protocols and dosage are really individual, different things work for different people. So don't be despondent about increasing the dosage during the cycle, that is exactly what the monitoring is for, to make the best adjustments for you. I now regard our first cycle as a test run, just to find out what works best for us, but yours has resulted in 2 fertilised eggs which is a great result. I know it doesn't feel like it now, but it really does only take one. Whether you have 2 transferred is a really personal decision and depends on your individual circumstances, so although it is difficult you need to make it with advice from your embryologist and consultant. Crossing my fingers for you, good luck! x
good luck! Our clinic said just one before but on day 3 we only had 2 left so they decided to put both back in. I truly believe back with you is the best place for them to be. We got a positive from our ok embryos with some fragmentation and now 14 weeks so you are still very much in the game. Try to stay as positive as you can and rest after your transfer x
Good luck to you both I hope all goes well for your transfer. And it really does only take one so hopefully you have a lovely embryo there!
I’ve always wanted twins so I would always go for two unless my doctors said it would reduce my chances. I had a double transfer for my last round but I knew it wouldn’t work as they were so poor.
Quick up date- both developed well overnight and they recommended transfering both as neither were perfect (although both good) and they thought it would be unlikely either would develop well enough to freeze. So had both transferred fingers crossed for test in 2 weeks. Thanks for all the good wishes xxx
