So went for a scan today to check my ovaries (which are nice and large - good size for this stage) and the nurse saw on the scan that I have quite a large uterine polyp. This was not picked up on the scan last week but she said she thinks the drugs might have made it larger. She said she thinks it is likely I will have to have it removed before embryo transfer as it can interfere with implantation. So any embies we get from this cycle will need to be frozen so they can be implanted after surgery to remove the polyp.
This is all a bit of a shock to be honest as I have never had polyps before and didn't have one earlier this year during round 1 of IVF. The nurse assured me that the IVF drugs could not have given me the polyp but I feel a little confused about that to be honest.
Has anyone else ever been in this situation?
Also, how overjoyed am I to be possibly having more surgery on my reproductive organs? Fun fun fun!!! Grrr.

Hello dear friend. I want to tell you a little something about myself. Just like you I used to plan to do IVF. THat never happened for me because a few weeks before I started I had to get my uterus removed. I am sorry that I cannot help you with the IVF. I have no idea what the drugs might do... I would have had but cancer is a bitch. So back to what I wanted to say to you. Having a surgery on your reproductive organs is as you said suuuper fun. I just want you not to stress too much about it. You won't feel a thing and this is for the best. As long as they wont remove the whole thing your life will be normal after that. SO don't worry about it too much. Things will get better I promise you. Just stay strong and keep believing and fighting. Lot's of hugs and kisses for you my dear xoxoxoox
Hi KiraJean. I had a uterine polyp, which was found after 3 cycles of stims. I was told to have it removed before transfer. I've had previous surgery on my pelvic organs, but the polyp was removed by hysteroscopy with no pain relief, was quick and I barely felt it. I know that it's annoying to think you're moving forward only to have another hurdle to cross. If your doctor says you need it removed then I'm sure you'll be fine as it sounds like you've been through a lot more. Good luck. 🙂
I’ve not been in this situation before or had a polyp but just wanted to say I hope the removal goes ok and your next part of your journey continues ASAP x
I had a small polyp and was given choice of fresh transfer or remove and freeze all. I wish I’d gone for freeze all because I had to have it removed anyway after 1st cycle was unsuccessful. Good luck but I’d push for a freeze all and remove polyp - it gives your body chance to recover from meds too. Xx
