Progestrone testing

So my clinic has agreed to test my progestrone on the day before transfer for my next cycle. However, they keep saying this is not done as standard. They keep saying that the level of progestrone in my blood is not reflective of progestrone in my uterus. But I can't help thinking that the more progestrone in my blood the more in my uterus....right?

They've asked me what number I'd be happy with. I don't know but I think it should be around 50? They asked if I'd abandon the cycle if I don't reach 50? I said I'd just like more progestrone.

Can anyone please let me know what number is enough when it comes to progestrone?

I can’t really give you any advice I am afraid but I am in a similar position. I had a transfer today and asked for my progesterone levels to be test as I bled early on my last 2 week wait. I really had to push for it as they also said it’s not standard. I get the results tomorrow x

I had this exact problem!

It’s so frustrating as you hear about so many ladies on here being tested and having medication adjusted as a result. My clinic agreed to test my levels on transfer day but the dr was adamant that they wouldn’t use the results to influence my meds this cycle. She did say we would have more info for the next cycle though.

I queried this with another dr and things got a bit awkward because I was so annoyed. She said they don’t know what level progesterone should be, so wouldn’t be able to adjust things in time?! So I did get the test done but won’t get my results until we know if the cycles worked. My point being I don’t want to know if my levels are ridiculously low and they refuse to adjust my medication.

Sorry for such a long ranty reply which has in no way answered your question, but I feel your pain! Xx

Hi Solly-44 did you get your results. Mine came back at 35. They said anything over 30 was ok but as I was so concerned they have given me additional 25mg lubion injection as well as my original 800mg of ultragestan. I asked if they could check it again in a few days to see if it had risen but they were adamant with a no saying they wouldn’t give me additional. Still worried.

No not yet - my otd is Tuesday and as they said they wouldn’t amend my meds if the result came back really low I decided I’d rather not know during the 2WW.

Glad they’ve added lubion in for you - I’ve heard several success stories from ladies on here with the additional support xx

My clinic director says he doesn’t believe in progesterone testing yet they still tested mine and set a guideline of wanting it to be over 50. My first transfer failed when it was 19, my second they gave me intramuscular injections and it was over 200 and I got a BFP. There are studies out there that have found progesterone levels are important - keep pushing and use 50 as the guide in your mind. It’s a bigger issue with FET where your body is producing less of its own xx

My clinic likes it to remain above 100 but anything above 60 should be fine

Hiya, the clinic we are at said about 30 for natural pregnancy is good and over 50 for an ivf pregnancy. We had ours checked and it came back as 32 so they've increased the dose. Good luck with your next cycle xx
