Nurse's consultation

Well, yesterday 25/08, my husband and I attended the nurse's consultation as well as the additional ultra sound. As the initial ultrasounds were not of a high enough resonance to determine one or two intramural fibroids, we are being referred to a senior consultant who specialises in fibroids and who will determine whether or not the fibroid definitely needs to come out or not!

In the meantime, I have been put on the drug regime to control my cycle, stimulate follicles and mature my eggs. With any luck, egg collection will be the first week in October. We have tonnes of info to sift through, so both of us are terrified, nervous, scared etc. This is so overwhelming and feeling like I'm drowning.

Of course, I HATE needles and there are 28 needles in total: the drugs involved are Ovaleap, Merinol, Buserein and pregnyl. Has anybody ever used these drugsand how did you cope, what are the side effects etc.

Things are moving in the right direction which is great! There is so much info I found it difficult to remember everything. Luckily hubby was on top of it, but the nurses should be able to help answer anything you're not sure about.

I don't mind needles but it really wasn't that bad. Will hubby be injecting you? It hurts a lot less in the bum than thigh, and freezing spray and ice means you really don't feel it. I had merional and pregnyl out of the ones on your list. I also had to have enoxaparin injections every day. I had no side effects at all from any of those, only from the tablets and they then reduced the dose.

It wasn't anywhere near as bad as I expected so try not to panic.

Good luck with it all x

I know re the info pack!....I'm normally a stickler for reading and re reading EVERYTHING, so I guess that it will be info overload. I have been told to inject around the navel only. I think that I will be using the ice and/or freezing spray to lessen feeling...so off to the pharmacy to stock up on that, thanks for the advice. Any particular ways of lessening stress as I am in between jobs as well, and applying like mad for new ones....all I'm short of now is moving house and I'm three for three!!

Thank you for the support, means a great deal!

Hi i had buserilin. It was fine. The needle is very very thin and as long as you jab yourself hard enough it just pops through the skin without any real feeling. I did mine in my belly by pinching the skin with one hand (lots there to pinch). Wishing you lots of luck xxx

I've just started buserelin, my OH does it for me - needle is very fine but a bit of rash afterwards. Don't know about the symptoms as I've only had one injection so far! Good luck with it all xxx

Wow, I saw the look on my OH's face when the njrse was demonstrating the injecting procedure and he was kind of white....so I don't think that he will be doing any of the injecting. Thank God that the ovaleap is an epipen rather than conventional vaccines otherwise I will be seriously messed up.

Thank you for the info and good luck with your cycle.

Oh an epipen - that seems so much more humane! Welcome to the world of feeling like a pin cushion - all the very best xxx
