I haven't posted for a while because I've had a very difficult few weeks. After my egg collection and ET I didn't feel quite right and a pain in my abdomen became worse and worse. My tummy became bigger and bigger and I ended up at hospital at 5am. Luckily my consultant was there that day to do the early morning clinic and saw me to confirm that I had Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (a mild/moderate case) but also mentioned it could be a good sign. So I was admitted to hospital that day for 5 days and I definitely got worse before I felt better which I was warned about. I feel for anyone who has experienced this, it's so so horrible, painful and leaves you unable to do much for yourself and very down. However I was told by my blood test that I was pregnant but also incredibly early to find out. I wasn't due to do my test for another week. Today I'm still off work, still have a lot of fluid to lose but def getting a little better each day and the only thing that has kept me going is being pregnant. I'm nearly 6 weeks now and have a good feeling about this time. My pregnancy scan will be a 7 weeks plus 5 in a couple of weeks and I hope and pray all will be fine and I'll find out whether it's one or 2 little babies in there ( we had 2 embryos transferred). Anyone else experienced Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome? xxx

I was borderline and that was bad enough... I'm glad to hear you're feeling better and congratulations on your bfp. I hope you have a healthy pregnancy xx
Yep i had it too and found out i was pregnant the day before test date after going back to my ivf clinic and being diagnosed with moderate ohss i had it until around 12 weeks my viability scan was also 7+5 amd after transferring 2 i had one healthy baby fast forward and my baby is now 3.5 months old
Thank you for your reply. That's so lovely to hear and very encouraging. I'm beginning to realise it'll take a long time to go completely but grateful to feel a bit better and be over the worst. Congratulations to you xxx
Dear nicquie, I have severe to moderate ohss with a couple of weeks at the hospital. I got taped 3 times to drain fluid. The last time 4 days ago with 4 l drained. I still have 3-4 l in me. I'm week 11+5. I was wondering if you too had still fluid in your belly and if the fluid was gone when your symptoms went away in week 12? Thanks so much. All the best, Ada
Yep I had a moderate case. It was pretty terrible tbh. The pain and bloating was intense. My consultant recommended hot lemon barley water which really helped with the pain and bloating. I'm so pleased for your news. Unfortunately we were unsuccessful this time which felt like a kick in the teeth after all we've been through but just got to stay positive I guess. Congratulations again. Hope you have a healthy pregnancy. Enjoy this wonderful time xx
Thank you for the tip, I'll try the lemon barley. I'm sorry to hear your try was unsuccessful but you're right in staying positive. You sound like a very strong person to have got through OHSS and still be positive. Wishing you well for the future. Thanks again xx
Yep, I also got it - after ET not EC and because the pregnancy hormones kicked it off apparently (I got a BFP). It is miserable - I was in so much pain so completely sympathise. I'm 8+5 and largely feel fine now but scans show I still have it. It does get better though - my symptoms are greatly improved. So congratulations and hang in there!!
Thanks for sharing. Yeah I was told that as the pregnancy hormone rises it fuels the symptoms. Glad you feel better now. Can't wait to just feel a bit more mobile and less bloated but def glad to be over the worst of it. Congratulations to you and thank you xx
I didn't have to be drained with mine, so yours does sound a lot worse. They said I could self-manage but there was a lot of fluid in there. And if was excruciating - I couldn't move and spent a few days crying and feeling like I was going to die! The doctors also told me to expect that it would stick around for the first 12 weeks and so far as I said technically it is still here BUT the symptoms are so mild I don't notice them now - they receded really quickly and much, much faster than the doctors told me they would. Main impact now is I am still not allowed to do any exercise which is annoying! So don't lose heart - it will get much better and hopefully soon.
Yes I did recently! Wasn't hospitalised, but felt horrendous and looked full term! It has finally gone! I'm 7 weeks pregnant on Wednesday and praying this one or two stick! Xx
