Our second round of IVF was successful and I am currently 5 weeks pregnant. How does anybody get through the week until an early scan. My only symptoms are exhaustion, bloating in evenings and swollen boobs. Other than that I’m normal. Is it normal to feel this worried about what is going on? We have a 7 week scan on 7th June. Not long left to wait but feels like forever.

Just to say congratulations ! And it is perfectly normal to feel anxious at this time Take any meds you have as directed- rest when you can - eat a healthy diet It will get easier On our website fertilitynetworkuk.org there is a support group "Pregnancy after Fertility Problems Group" next zoom meeting 31st May -on website -main page -menu -access support-Events & Group meetings and scroll down to find info on how to register
One foot in front of the other. I distracted myself with TV. I accepted I wouldn't be in a great place. Acceptance made it easier and almost made the anxiety more bearable. I took a sick day when I needed it x
Good luck, and congratulations on your positive 💕💕
hi, yep totally normal! You have more symptoms that most so that’s reassuring. I have mild nausea and fatigue but that’s it. The wait for the scan is a long one isn’t it! I remember saying to the ultrasonographer at my 12 week scan ‘oh I’m so relieved there is actually something in there!’
You’ve just got to keep busy through the days, stay positive, don’t go on Google, and look forward to seeing that little baby blob very soon 🍀🥰🍀
it feels like every day is dragging 😂 I really hope after the first trimester it doesn’t feel like it’s dragging! I think early days are harder because it’s the unknown and all new changes are happening slowly. Oh yeah, I learnt that the first round, google is not your friend 😂 I stayed well away this time around. Eeeeek all feels very surreal!
honestly it will be the same for every milestone I’m 38 weeks tomorrow and the worry doesn’t go away. It does get easier though you find ways to deal with it. I took up pregnancy yoga as a way to stay relaxed. Avoided googling symptoms and just did some deep breathing and relaxing when I felt over whelmed. You’ve got this xxx
Boo is spot on, I’m 29 weeks pregnant and the worry never goes (I hate to say). Yes it does get a bit better after 20 weeks as you start around that time to feel movement and it gets stronger and stronger so you know the baby is hopefully okay. You still worry at every midwife appointment despite the number of weeks. I think naturally with an IVF pregnancy we don’t take these miracles for granted xxxx good luck xxxx
hey there, I’m in a similar position to you but just 1 week ahead, and I have the exact same symptoms as you and have been slightly paranoid. It’s funny having gone through so many transfers and driving myself crazy during all the 9-10 day waits to find out if the embryo stuck. Then we find ourselves in a similar predicament waiting for 7 week scan. A friend gave me a wee tip - say to yourself “happy and healthy” and using your hands form a triangle shape (index fingers meet and thumbs meet) against your belly, try to visualise that little embaby nesting into your warm and cosy lining, take some deep breaths counting to 4 on the in breath, 4 on the out breath. If that doesn’t help, take a stroll outside for 10-20mins, listen to the birds and take in nature. If that’s not your bag, speak to a friend or family member, so they can help to comfort you during this time. Hope this helps.
Heya, on this second transfer, I found the 10 day wait a bit more bareable. I stayed away from google, I also didn’t have every symptom under the sun this time around. I only had exhaustion, where as my first failed round I experienced every early pregnancy symptom so I think my mind was on overdrive. 100%, it helps that the weather is becoming nicer in the UK now, so getting out and about as much as possible. Appreciate you messaging & the advice!! Thank you and congratulations to you also! Xx
It is totally normal to be feeling like this. Nobody tells you that the wait between BFP and your first scan is actually 10000000 days haha. Most people's symptoms don't kick in until 7 or 8 weeks so it is still very early and some get no symptoms at all.
Definitely employ distraction techniques, binge tv, go for walks, play games. Anything to take your mind off it. Congratulations and good luck!
