Just had a look at the CCGs for Cheshire and they have cut the number of funded cycles from 3 to 1 as from this month so just thought I'd share with anyone affected x
Cheshire NHS Cycles: Just had a look at... - Fertility Network UK
Cheshire NHS Cycles
Ours is 1 to 0, hard times for ivf nationwide! ๐ฅ good luck with yours! Xx
It's rubbish isn't it. I'm in the two week wait from our first cycle which is now our only one. Fingers crossed we only need this one. x
Good luck to you! In 2WW of stimulated IUI which I had yesterday - so depending on the outcome we either have to appeal to get some funding or try and fund it ourselves...
Will you have a possible FET as a back up? Xx
Good luck with yours as well! Fingers crossed for both of us. We're waiting to hear. I had three eggs that fertilised and had one 5 day blastocyst put back. The other two were slightly behind on day five so they were giving them another day to see if they were good enough to freeze. They said they'd write to me within 1-2 weeks to let me know!
I think we would have to appeal as it partially a result of a medical miscarriage that we are having to have IVF. They scarred my womb during the process and I now have ashermans and adhesions. Just more hassle we didn't want with the potential of getting legal advice etc. x
Well good luck with it all, you've really been through it and I wish you the best outcome xxx
Are you still affected if your funding for 3 cycles has been secured? My friend was told as she's already been told she could have 3 fresh cycle if any cuts are made it'll only affect people starting IVF from that time?
If that make sense x
Yes my hubby wondered that but the nurse told me quite clearly that they can change it during your treatment. You only qualify if you've actually started the cycle they remove if that makes sense. We would have had to have started another to get another
What that is awful, talk about giving hope then snatching it away. Thanks for the info, Il have to let my friend know cause she's taking some time out of treatment but thinks shes definitely got 2 fresh cycles to come back to x
I've just emailed the ccg to check but my nurse told me on more than one occasion that they wouldn't honour it. Hope your friend is different x
I live in Cheshire and have just completed round 3, which I know I'm very fortunate to have had.
I did ask if they were busy last month when I was there and they said they had heard that it looked like rounds offered were going to be cut but weren't sure when, and that was literally the end of June!
What was sad was they also said that it would effect people who had already been signed up as they would not be entitled to the 3 rounds even though already in the system.
It's so unfair that fertility isn't treated fairly across the country and also that it is one of the first areas to be cut, no fertility isn't life threatening but it's definately life changing and so unfair that couples are having this funding cut.
It makes me mad when I'm going to see my hubby in hospital and there's a guy opposite him who is constantly going out to smoke legal highs and was so out of his tree the other night that he actually sparked one up whilst lying on the ward in his bed!!! And our taxes are paying for him but not for people to be funded fertility treatment! So wrong! x
Sorry to hear about your three cycles. Yes they mentioned it to me but they were expecting the three rounds to be cut to two not one. We only expected to manage to get two in before my 40th so that wasn't really a blow. Hopefully we'll not need anymore as still in the two week wait but it was a nice security having three. I've just said how unfair it is to hubby as a lot of people can't conceive due to a medical condition and to me it's like refusing someone an operation. At least we do everything we can to help ourselves unlike that guy you mentioned. It is so unfair. What part of Cheshire are you in? Have you decided what to do next? I've had a really crap week with bad news after bad news and so we're definitely due a big pile of
Good news at the weekend x
Aww sending you lots of luck with your 2ww, really hope this works for you.
I'm Cheshire West, so fall under the care of Leighton Hospital.
3 rounds has proven that my problem is most certainly my eggs although have managed to get pregnant 6 times in the last 3 years, 4 times naturally and twice with ivf, just keep miscarrying ๐ข Although won't be able to get pregnant naturally ever again as had both tubes removed now, hence the ivf route.
I'm 40 this year too, they make you wait 3 months before you can start another cycle again on the NHS, so that slowed me down quite a bit and all I kept thinking was my eggs keep aging in that waiting period!
Our next move is Doner Eggs, have had a long time to think about it all and got my head round it quite quick, so will be ringing clinic tomorrow to confirm bfn and then requesting copies of all my records and seeing if they'll do my bloods again so I can then move on. Decided to stay here because of hubbys health rather than go abroad so will be signing upto a money refund guarantee package if no baby in my arms after 3 fresh rounds and all frozen. Hopefully one of those goes will work!
Sending lots of luck to you. Xx
We're at Leighton too. So sorry to hear about your miscarriages. That is really tough. I don't know how you cope. I've been pregnant once naturally and miscarried so to go through that six times you must be very strong. Please keep me updated how you get on. I don't really know what my problem is. My amh is very low at 3.4 but we had got four eggs and three fertilised. Had a 5 day blastocyst put back grade ab and still waiting to hear if the other two were good enough to freeze. All three that fertilised made it to day five so although I have few eggs I'm not sure if there's anything wrong with quality. I don't know how else you tell. I also have an issue with my lining now as my womb was damaged from the surgical miscarriage. My periods stopped for a year and now my lining isn't very thick so not sure if I can carry a baby so not sure de would work for us so would be really interested in what you find out and what clinic you decide to go to. I've never really asked about our success chance and percentage as didn't want to know but I think now we'll have to pay a frank and honest conversation with the consultant is required. We're willing to pay but not throw money after a lost cause or mentally put us through it if there really is no chance. I'd rather move down a different avenue to have a family and not waste years getting older! Still have fingers crossed for the weekend test but I also like to have a backup plan as I'm a bit of a control freak lol x
I've personal messaged you ๐ Xx
Oh dear...this happened to me last Nov. Wiltshire CCG cut our goes from 3 to 1 with no warning ๐ง
It's so wrong isn't it. They should honour it once you've been approved. Congratulations on your bfp though ๐๐ x
Ah thanks...got to wait til monday to see if it's viable!
I totally get that the government can't afford treatment for everyone. I get that people are dying from cancer as the nhs can't afford to fund the drugs but I do still think there's more they can do to help us, even in the current climate.
I think treatment should be means tested so at least the very poorest have treatment paid for in full or in part. And for those of us "lucky enough" to afford treatment, instead of throwing us to the mercy of private clinics (who put their profits ahead of our best interests any day of the week) the government should provide interest free loans over long terms (10/15/25yrs) for us to pay for treatment. They should regulate clinics to ensure we're not getting ripped off...or here's a thought maybe they should create nhs clinics for all, that offer the best treatment for everyone (as that's a postcode lottery too)...so we can go there for treatment, which I'd be happy to pay for with an interest free loan, from a "not for profit" clinic...hmm maybe I've been thinking about this too much!
Just an update to all. I wrote an email to the ccg asking if they would honour my three cycles as I started treatment before the change and I can't quite believe it but they have come back and said yes. Anyone in this position get in touch with them directly x
I'm so glad for you xx
