At my first app at the clinic. Me n hubby filled out paper work thing like medical history if we are on any medication they checked both our weight and height. And we were given forms for hubby to do semen test. I was asked to call clinic on 2nd day of period so they can do a viginal scan to chk the ovaries the lining and to chk everything is okay. Also i had to to a test to chk if my tubes were open or closed. It took 4-5 montjs to have all the test and scans done.fter all these tests. I was put on clomid for 4 moths. I didnt get a postive on it. Now im waiting for app in may to talk about 2 nd line of treatmet..x best wishes.

Oh gosh, I thought more would happen in a first appointment. I think I have all the blood work carried out by my GP, my husband has also had a semen sample analysed by our GP. I thought I would get a scan and prescribed clomid straight away as my blood tests came back as probable PCOS. It seems a waste of my and hospitals time filling out forms about medical history when my GP has all the information. I'm already starting to feel despondent.

When i first saw my gp she sent me for blood work and scn it came bk pcos. Then she referred me to nhs clinic. Even i jad my results that showed pcos they still scanned me and my hubby semen came bk low count when gp requested it but came bk fine when fertility clinic requested it. My chylomedia test which gp sent me for came bk okay and the clinic avcepted that letter so i didnt need to have a test to chknfr that again. Please make sure any tests u have had with gp u get copies of and take the with u at ur app the clinic might acvept them n it will save time. X

Thank you so much for sharing my situation is similar to yours. Had blood done probable PCOS. Have an underactive thyroid too which was under active on my bloods sonhad to increase my mess. Husbands sperm count came back fine. Didn't have and sti tests or smear but I've kept up to date with smear tests.

I've got copies of all blood tests ready to pass onto them. Fingers crossed. Where are you on your journey now?

I was put on 4 rounds of clomid. I only done 3 rounds at 100mg from cycle day 2-6. I was ovulating on clomid however i didnt get +. I decided not to do round four as i felt 3 was enough for me. I still have one round in the drawer but i will not be taking it. I now have a app in may. Ithink they will talk about ivf. But im not sure when i actually start the drugs.or how long after i have to wait after the app for paper work. But untell then i need to loose weight.not easy.x

hey J, don't feel despondent! If your process is anything like mine, after having all my bloods done my doctor referred me to the gynaecology unit at my local hospital. At the first apt there she did a smear test and discussed my blood tests with me, and booked me in for a HSG (which checks if there's any blockages in your fallopian tubes). After that came back clear I was referred to the fertility clinic where there were a few more blood tests and an internal scan like bibi mentioned, and after that we were good to go ahead with IVF! it depends on what area you're in as to what the process is, and it may be that they prescribe you clomid more quickly rather than sending you on to a fertility clinic. I hope you get some useful answers on Tuesday and that everything moves quickly for you, good luck xx

On our first appointment ( we had done both blood and semen testing before appointment) our history was taken and both hight and weight measured. The doctor then did an internal examination..a lot of pushing my belly and all that stuff...looking for pains. I also did another smear tests.

First appointment, like others were forms checking we'd had all relevant tests (smear, hiv, hepatitis etc) checked height and weight. Then discussions about previous history ever been pregnant, any kids from either partner, for me I'd had infections in my tubes so some time spent on that, how long we'd been trying etc. No need to get despondent, you are on the right track and a step closer in the process x good luck.

At my first appointment with my gp we just got asked questions which felt a little arkward to begin with. And then I had bloods done . Husband had to go for a sperm analysis test . We then waited on all the bloods to come back . And took it from there xx

I also had a Laprascopy and dye test to see if my tubes were open.

And also put on chlomid after being messed around by the other gyneaocologist . Was ok on it for 4 months fell pregnant unfortunately lost again . Xx

Like has already been mentioned don't expect it all to be a quick process if you are using the NHS. I found they like to do everything in slo mo and they do tests in a specific order, one at a time to rule out all sorts of things. If they find issues they will help but there are so many of us needing help and I just don't think there is much funding for it all. Isn't metformin suggested for PCOS? I know a girl who has reduced wheat and gluten in her diet which has really helped her pcos. Best of luck try not to over think or worry just expect it not to happen in 1/2 appointments xx
