Hi there, and welcome to the board! I think all clinics vary so I'd probably check with them, but I was surprised and disappointed when we went for our appointment to "start treatment" on Feb 7th. We were told that we were scheduled in for a March treatment, but that in reality that meant that I called them when my March AF starts and then start the drugs 21 days later, so effectively not really starting any treatment until April. I know it's only a few weeks later but after having first been referred last April, I just want to get on with it now!!
Just wanted to highlight that in case your clinic was the same so you knew that additional delay could be a possibility.
Hi Daddu1.During the “long protocol” form of IVF treatment, there is little or no difference between starting down regulation at the beginning of your cycle or on Day 21. It is really just down to the consultant/clinic and their procedures, but in terms of response to drugs and success rates there is no difference. The only thing that is thought to have a slight difference is that if you start on Day21 then you are less likely to get cysts develop on your ovaries. However, it doesn't mean that you would get them by starting at beginning of your cycle either! Perhaps you will start the next day after your appointment, so fingers crossed you do. Just wanted o wish you all the best with it all and for success. Diane
Hi Daddu1. You can always ask, as you may be able to have "Buserelin" that you sniff up your nose. If they insist on injections, try melting an ice cube on the spot before injecting - helps to numb the area. Good luck! Diane
