Not sure what to think after consultant meet.

So had my meeting with the NHS consultant yesterday following my lap & dye at the beginning of Nov (the dye didn't go through)

While I was expecting 'doom & gloom' he seems keen for me to do a HSG to double check the tubes...

Now part of me is obvs hoping that it works with this & the other part is wondering if it's just delaying the inevitable..and age is not on my side

Has anyone had a positive result with HSG after a lap where the dye didn't go through?

We're going to a couple of IVF open evenings next week in the meantime..

Thank you

Hi hun

I had similar thing happen and ended up having both tubes removed due to hydrosalpinx on both sides. It's not all bad though - I did give myself a rough time after having my tubes removed and now we are 5 months pregnant xxx good luck

Hi G_H_C. Not the result that you want to hear, but I’m sure having an HSG can only be beneficial in aiding a proper diagnosis. Should there be a problem with the “open” end of the tubes, they may need to be clipped or removed. This is because there can be a build-up of lubrication in the tubes with an excess having no way to get out only through the womb end, which could then prevent a developing embryo from implanting. Hope you don’t have to wait too long for this and you can soon get cracking with treatment. Thinking of you. Diane

Thanks Diane, appreciate it.

It just feels like one thing after another. I'm also quite frustrated after the docs last year put it all down to my thyroid when actually according to the fertility consultant who looked at the same results (a year later!) said it also didn't look like I'd ovulated when the docs said the results were fine...had I been referred then we'd already be on the way..

I know there's no point with the 'what ifs' but hard not too..

Hi G_H_C. Sadly, all these nuisance tests and investigations do take time, which just all adds to the nightmare. Once all your "equipment" is sorted, we can manipulate your treatment cycle to perform properly. As you say, it is difficult to look at the past events and wonder why, but we can't do anything about that, just ensure everything will be straightforward once you are sorted out. Don't know if it would help you, but I do have a list of questions you could have a look through before going back, just in case there are a couple you may not have thought of asking. I can email it to you in confidence if you want. support@fertilitynetworkuk.org Diane
