Hi, I will be starting my ivf treatment very soon. We will be doing the long protocol. I'm 28 with a healthy bmi. I already have a child who is 10yrs I've not conceived again after him. Our diagnosis was unexplained. We will be paying for our cycle. My question is there any benefit from doing the time lapse imaging or not? Could you please advice me with your experiences.

Thank you :)

Hi there. I'm afraid I can't help you as I don't have experience myself but I saw this article which mentions time lapse monitoring. Maybe food for thought.

Good luck with your treatment.

Time lapse is only beneficial if you have lots of fertilised eggs. You should speak to your clinic and ask if it's possible to make the decision once you know how many you have. It can increase the chances of a successful pregnancy as they are able to see which little embryo/embryos are developing at the correct speed and can get rid of the ones that are developing too quickly or too slowly xx

Thank you for replying. It's just that I had read the daily mail article an it made me think is it worth it or not. Very confused as we will be paying it's just adds on. If it's worth it defo will look into it.

It honestly depends on how many eggs you get. Worth it if you have a lot of fertilised eggs so I would wait until you get to that stage before you make your decision. We used it because we had 6 fertilised eggs but it made no difference for us as only 2 were any good by day 2, the others had got to the 7 cell stage which means they were developing far too quickly x
