I know that you have to use the cycles up in a certain amount of time, say two years for example, but your referring doctor should have had the official letter from the ccg that approved it?
Im guessing so Im just worried that cos My last cycle was successful they may not refer me for another cycle We have to pay for the embryo storage but we cant book a appointment direct with them just seems abit odd x
Oh, so what we were told is that if you have a live birth from NHS funding then you would have to pay for using any that were frozen...obviously different ccg's do different things!
So if you therefore have to pay to have your FET cycle, then you shouldn't need to be referred as you are a private patient?!
Yea thats what I said to her on the phone but she said after my last cycle i was discharged from the clinic but they have all my details there , Ive got to call back in the morning to speak to a lady about paying the fee x
That's very strange....definitely see if you can speak with someone else tomorrow!!
Yea will do dosent seem right when we will be paying for a frozen cycle X
Hi Ro5ie. The NHS, however many cycles they fund, will only allow one live birth. So if you are successful, any other funding will be transferred for use by another couple. You can either get your GP to refer you somewhere privately, or have a look at hfea.gov.uk and find a clinic yourself. You can arrange your own appointment, but they may need a courtesy letter of referral from your GP. Your little frostie will need to be transferred to your clinic of choice, which you can sometimes do by borrowing a "flask" and plug it into the power (cigarette lighter) source in your car. Good luck! Diane
Hi Diane I have sorted my referral from my gp and its been received at the clinic we will be having treatment there again and we are self funding our treatment this time they have told me its £950 that dosent include medication if i need it but I am exempt due to a health condition so i wouldnt need to pay for prescription
the lady at the gp said i should be able to book an appointment over the phone being as were self funding but they said all appointments are sent out in the post even if they are private patients
