My last visit to the clinic.....

Hi everyone...

just wondering what you all would do in my situation.

On what should have been my last visit to my clinic to collect a letter to be handed into my GP surgery.

This should have simply been a hand over letter notifying him of my successful treatment, on going medications etc etc

To my surprise I have opened this letter which is addressed to my GP but the problem is they are speaking about another patients treatment, outcome, name, address 😵🤭 absolutely nothing in this letter relates to me other than my GP’s details.

This is such a big mistake on the clinics part!!!!!

I really don’t want to get the ACU nurses in any trouble but I think this is very serious and I need to raise some sort of Alarm on Monday🚨 but how should I go about this?

Formally in writing or an informal phone call.

I’m still in disbelief tbh 😵🤭😵🤭

It is major. I’d phone first. It’s going to be quicker than a letter xx

This was my initial thought, then I thought a phone call alone my allow them to brush it under the carpet like it never happened.

If you’re not satisfied with their response then take it further xx

Thnx, I definitely will give that a try...

as I said I don’t want to get them in trouble as they were all so lovely to me but mistakes like this just should not happen x

They have broken data protection in short.

It’s pretty much guaranteed that the other person got your letter too, so would have opened it and probably read it. Plus the receptionists from the GP surgery.

I would raise it with the clinic and maybe also the PALS/complaint department as it may only be a letter this time, but you could raise concern on the handling of paperwork and processes there...
