Round 2 update...

so I had my down reg scan today, all good so start oestrogen tablets today in preparation for a frozen transfer. I asked about embryo glue but apparently I cant have it as I'm on a NHS funded cycle! Even though I obviously said id pay for it. Something to do with cross funding apparently... Bit annoying but hey. The nurse also said I cant decide just to have 2 embryos transferred, its the embryologists' decision depending on the quality once thawed... Also annoying as I was previously told I could! I'm sort of glad I don't have to make any decisions though! Regarding aspirin, she said they don't offer anticoagulant support until multiple miscarriages but there's nothing stopping me taking it over the counter, she said it wouldn't do any harm so I will probably give it a go. She said 75mg daily but not till transfer is confirmed from scan in a week. Curious when others have been told to start taking aspirin in a frozen cycle?

Hi embiemomma. Decisions, decisions! However, I think i would go with what your embryologist advises - less stress for you. Regarding using the low dose soluble aspirin, i agree with the nurse, but best to let your specialist know too. Hope all goes well with the FET - and of course afterwards. Diane

When we had NHS funding we paid for an endo scratch as glue was included. I'm not sure their cross funding is a good answer.

It might be worth calling them and asking to speak with the unit manager or sister nurse to say you'd like to pay to have it and not ask them. This is your life, try as much as possible to get what you want x

Hi

We was told this when we went for our review after our failed first cycle in April this year. I asked about the scratch and glue and we was told as our FET cycle will be still funded by the NHS. They said they won't allow the funding for that we said that we were more than happy to pay the cost and was told cross funding is not a good idea!! So guess we will be just doing FET after Christmas without these things and hope for the best next time around!!!! Good luck with your cycle!!!! X

Hello! We had a conversation with our clinic about this just the other day. We're NHS funded but could pay for the glue if we wanted (our clinic doesn't seem to have a problem with cross funding - just another example of the postcode lottery I guess!). The embryologist told us that at the moment, they don't have enough evidence to say that it's definitely something that makes a difference and was completely relaxed about us not having it. We decided against having it on that basis. So if you don't have it, I'd say don't worry - there are enough things to worry about. Good luck with your cycle! Xx
