Hi Bibi,

When we had our first appointment at our clinic, my DH's BMI was 31 and they said they couldn't treat us as the NHS wouldn't fund it. DH was spending a lot of time in the gym back then, so it wasn't even that he was overweight, it was all muscle! They were going to have to refer us back to the GP to start the whole process again, but luckily there had been a mix-up with our appointment so they gave us another appointment with them for 4 weeks later. This gave my DH a chance to lose the weight and all was OK in the end. But, I would say yes, if you are NHS funded, you will be refused treatment if you are at all over the 29.9 limit.

If you need to lose weight quick, there is a great diet online that guarantees you lose a stone in a week. I've done it a couple of times and it does actually work (as long as you stick to it)! It's also relatively healthy for a crash diet as it's aimed at people who need to lose weight fast before major surgery. Just google 'James Duncan diet' and it should be the first thing to come up. Good luck!

The amounts don't matter unless they are specified, it's a chemical thing, hence why it's really important that you stick to it and don't substitute anything. I was literally having 3 chicken breasts on the chicken night because I was hungry! I was also juicing my fruit for lunch/breakfast, which I found much more filling. You will be sick of eggs by the end of it too! Good luck!

Hi

I was unfortunately refused at 30.1 and was absolutely devastated as I lost 3 stone they now tell me that I need to loose more to get to a bmi of 30 and show that I can maintain it !

I am 5.8 and 39 years old they have given me 3 months to prove this or I am out

Beyond despair

But stay positive you may have a more accommodating doctor but I was told by mine that it is what the embryologist requires

Fingers crossed for you
