What to expect at the internal bladder scan

Hi lovely ladies I have a internal scan coming soon I have not been given any info about it on the appointment letter. It just says inter plus baldder scan. Can anyone help thanks.x

Hi Bibi 16,

I'm not sure what you mean by a bladder scan, but the internal scan is fine once you get past the initial awkwardness of 'assuming the position'! Just remember that the nurses do it all day every day and to them it's normal. It's in no way painful or uncomfortable.

They will ask you to undress from the waste down and give you a towel/sheet to wrap around yourself, then they will get you to lay down and place your knees over some stirrups. They will insert a stick with a camera on the end of it and have a look around - you'll be able to see it all on the screen, which is quite interesting and a good way of distracting yourself.

Don't worry, you'll be an old hand at internal scans before you know it and won't think twice about putting your legs in the stirrups and having people fumbling about down there!

Don't worry, it's no worse than getting a smear test done. From memory, your bladder should be empty for the internal scan, just double check when you get there. The wand they use doesn't have a camera as such, it emits ultrasound waves and you can then see the image on a screen. You won't even notice it.

The internal scans are fine and nothing to worry about at all. I've actually found mine very interesting watching my follicles develop. Just relax and remember that to the staff a fanny is a fanny (as my mum an ex-Gynae nurse says!!!!!) xx

Thanks you so much ladies very much appreciated. Ladies so far I have had blood work done my progesterone is very low like 1.9 and after the scan I have a sec appointment. Does any one have an idea of what treatment they might offer me or what questions I should asking if reuots come bk no ovulation and scan comes bk nornal.
