Hi

We been trying for 2 years
If all is fine then they may tell you to go and continue unless you are self funding x
Go continue?
On our first appointment it was a bit of a 'meet and greet' they questioned us about lifestyle age etc and then went over the sperm test and blood tests i'd had. I then got sent for a HSG and told when to come back for more bloods as certain things came back not so good then subsequently I've had more tests from that. Sperm sample was all fine so that was that for my husband but I've had quite a few tests now. How old are you? It sometimes depends on that depending where you are. Good luck with your appointment the first app for me was a bit of an anti climax as there were no answers just more tests and more waiting. But on the other side it was also good to get 'under a specialist' and get everything started at least. We've also been trying 2 years over 35 though which is what seemed to spur them on with all tests etc xx
I was weighed and asked some questions. I then had a HSG and once they came back fine I was prescribed clomid. Good luck!
We are self funding so got in very quick, I’m 39 and my husband is 57 so they ran through our lifestyle, health issues and test results. The consultant explained in detail how conception works normally. Due to my husbands age and he fact that he has a child already they suggested a sperm defragmentation test to check his boys further. She explained all the possible options for us specifically as we have, as most people do unexplained infertility. As soon as the fragmentation test came back she sent the results of the test with her recommendations
I was weighed and measured to see BMI.
You both get asked health questions.
Then prescribed more tests. One where they inject dye in your uterus to see if there’s any blockage... there’s many many tests to go through. Then at my next appointment I was prescribed Clomid and did another 6 months of testing to see if each month I created follicles... I lost roughly 2 years in tests and waiting for appointments and waiting for results.
Each journey will differ pending on the NHS trust area. It may be a national health, but it’s a trust area that dictates the next move. I’m close to another area and my doctor thought I landed in Birmingham which would give us until I’m 40. However I’m in Staffordshire and I missed out on a free go as my consultant got it terribly wrong. As it’s 39 in my trust area.
I’m actually glad, as I felt I kept getting my time wasted and frustration as the wait in between was appointments were long. Hearing stories of NHS vs private, I’m glad and very fortunate I could go private.
Clomid was a waste of time and made me horrible.
But remember this is only one journeys representation. Everyone has a different journey
Best of luck xx
