So we are back to ACU on the 9th June to discuss this failed cycle and to plan going forward.
As we only have one frozen embryo I am in two minds what to ask for...
I think fet is an easier process (but I'm not sure) but I also don't know how long it takes or how soon we would be able to start.
My worry is as we only have one what if it doesn't defrost properly?
Would we be better doing long or short protocol again to give us another chance with a fresh embryo and to hopefully get some more to freeze?
As we are paying privately I know another protocol would be another 5-6k whereas the fet is cheaper but if that didn't work then we would be back to square one.
What do you all think?
Would we be better trying fet then if needs be starting from scratch?

I have been considering the exact same thing myself as I know it won't be long before I have to make the same decision as bleeding has now turned red and heavier. Me personally I would be going for a fresh new cycle but that is because my frostie is a low grade. It hardly seems worth spending money on something that may not work. Do you know how much different it is in price?x
Ohh no, I am sorry to hear that - its just heartbreaking and I know exactly what you are going through.
Well the price list that we were given originally says for FET it is £700, I am not sure if the drugs will then be on top of that - as my drugs were roughly £600 all in that's approximately £1300
If we decide to do another long protocol with ICSI then the bill for that was £3991 plus another £250 for additional drugs (another buserelin and another vial of Gonal F) so there really is quite a HUGE difference in price.
However, if the frozen blast didn't survive then I would be absolutely gutted so really I do have lots of questions for our follow up appointment.
I need to know how many vials of sperm we have left (we had SSR), what the odds are re the blast and the grade etc, whether they will let us go through another fresh cycle and what the FET odds / chances are.......
See, an eternal planner..... I always have to have a plan of action!
I hope you are ok - please try not to worry, I knew on Wednesday that our cycle had not worked so I have had 48 hours to get my head around it. For whatever reason the embryo was not meant to be and we just have to accept that and look to the future xx
Wow didnt realise there was such a big difference in price. You definitely need to get all your questions answered. In your case i would probably try fet first then consider options after that if needed. It's always good to keep planning, keeps the mind active. Best of luck with your consultation xx
Thank you. I am pretty sure that they will want us to try fet first as when they called with results and she gave us appointment she said it was to discuss getting on with fet as soon as possible.
Hope you are ok today and that the bleeding has stopped.
Sorry it hasn't worked this time for you Holly. I would be like you and planning ahead, just for the sake of my sanity, I needed to always have a back up plan.
I think nowadays when they freeze the embryos they are generally very good blasts, and very rarely do they not defrost properly. If they didn't defrost and you didn't transfer, they wouldn't charge you??, so in a way you are not really losing anything. I got a BFP on both my fresh transfer and FET, fresh resulting in a miscarriage, but I was successful with the FET and am due in a few weeks. So I really believe FET can and do work
I think you can go ahead with the FET fairly soon, your clinic will advise. Unfortunately for me i had to wait around 6 months as they found a polyp whilst checking my womb lining before FET.
Good luck in whatever you decide to do. Hope I have helped a little.
Thank you so much that really does help and congratulations, you must be sooooo excited 😄😄
I am just so worried that if we lost the frozen embryo then we wouldn't have a back up but you have reassured me (they froze a 5 day blast of good quality, I will find out more on the 9th)
I hope we can get on with it sooner rather than later, I think it's the not knowing at the moment but it's only 2 weeks away I guess.
Thank you again and lots of luck and well wishes for you and your little one to be xx
Hey we've been having the same dilemma and have opted to us the 4AAgrade 5 day Frostie. We've been told that FET have a better success rate as your using a good quality embie that is already at blastocyst and your body has to go through less treatment and stress so in in a more relaxed state compared to normal IVF.
Defiantly with running both options by with your clinic but I would recommend using your Frostie first
