50% survival rate for top embryos after thawing?

As the headline says, how frustrating is this!

Today we did our second FET. They told us the first embryo didn’t survive thawing process (a 4AA rated embryo) so they have to thaw another one, which survived.

What worries me is this is exactly what happened last time during our first FET (after a freeze-all egg collection to avoid OHSS). The best embryo we have (5AA) didn’t survive thawing. They have to thaw a second one which lucky survived.

I am worried - how could both times have exactly the same pattern? Our clinic said thawing survival rate is 95%. I don’t understand how could it happened repeatedly on us. We have used all of our top rated embryos. Wondering how well would the rest survive!

Wondering if anyone else have had similar experience and if they manage to get pregnant in the end?

Although I know the chance is low, I am worried could it actually be clinic mistakes?

Move way from this clinic. We should all do this, never do the second rounds on the same clinic, to teach them no go for money.

I am not sure if it is clinic’s fault or is my embryo’s. I can never tell 🥲

we had two top grade who both survived and kept the grading, bit odd how it happened to both of yours but I guess it does happen 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yes! The first time we thought it was just luck until it happened a second time. I’ve asked embryologist if this could indicate a genetic issue. The answer I got is “It is hard to say as there are too many factors”

I had FET on 1.07 and the first embryo did not survive, the second one did and I just got a positive test. Fingers crossed for you ❤️

Hi 👋

My son was a 5AA he thawed fine and implanted and is now 17 months. I know how you feel as when I had my last transfer I lost a 5AB Hatching in the thawing process and 4AA didn’t stick. My consultant told me that just because it’s a high grade embryo doesn’t mean it’s going to keep progression. He said the grading system is for them more than us. You could ask for a chat with your consultant to put your mind at ease but don’t beat yourself up as it is all a numbers game xxx good luck for your transfer

You should move away from that clinic as fast as you can I think it has something to do with the clinic. I had the same experience with a clinic I used I had 3 Embrayo all 3 did not survive thawing

Oh no, sorry to hear that :( Hope things will go smoothly with current clinic.

We will definitely try another place if we do another round of egg collection.

I had two FET’s in row where one embryo didn’t survive the thaw and they had to defrost another one. I thought the same thing as they say it’s so rare. I couldn’t help but think it might’ve been lab issue. But It’s hard to know who’s fault it is isn’t it!

I can tell you that my final FET where one didn’t survive did end in a pregnancy and I am due on Saturday. Best of luck x

Thanks for your suggestion🥰 I don’t think clinic will give any clear answers. Trying another clinic if this one doesn’t work is the only way!
