Hi all, hope you're well. Had bloods tonight to confirm BFP. Been on 25mg of prednisolone steroids and I'm not sleeping, really bloated etc. Has anyone taken it as part of Ivf and at what point did you reduce to what level please? Desperate to reduce asap. Thankyou and good luck! ๐Xxx

25mg of prednisolone is hardcore! Is anyone else taking it and how much please?
Hi Bighope,
Congratulations on your BFP!!. I was only on 5mg, but i didn't have any known issues. It was standard protocol at my clinic for everyone, and I took it until around my 12th week then reduced it. Speak to your clinic, they should be able to advise you.
Good luck!

Hi i was on 25mg too although I didnt have success I had been told I would be taking them till 12 weeks pregnant and then weaned off.
I was also advised to take them on a morning to reduce the insomnia.
Congratulations on BFP x
Thankyou crazy cat, best of luck on your journey xx
Congratulations! You must be over the moon! I took pred 25 mg from EC to 12 weeks. You then have to taper off it as stopping suddenly can be harmful so that I think took another 2 weeks. I didn't get insomnia but it gave me horrible side effects (moon face, carb cravings, spots, hair on face and weight gain) and it was miserable to take. Lots of people guessed I was pregnant cos I looked so puffy but this was the pred side effects not the pregnancy I'm sure! I talked to my clinic about stopping early but they encouraged me to keep going and I'm glad I did. (My 6 week old is sleeping on me as I write this!) and the side effects went after I finished taking it. I found ticking off the days until I could stop helped me! The one good side effect of taking it is it can help reduce morning sickness! Good luck for the rest of your pregnancy xx
Aww congratulations maibs, must amazing to be a mummy!!! ๐ถ Gives me hope that the drugs might just work ๐ I'll stick to 25mg and be a hairy fat thing for the hopes of the best outcome ever! Enjoy xx
Thank you- I think it's even more special after the struggles we go through to get there! I hope you enjoy your pregnancy- the first trimester is a bit tough especially with the prednisilone but it's protecting your little one against any immune reaction and you'll feel so good once you're past those first few months and off it. Congratulations! Xx
Congratulations on your BFP! Amazing news!!! x x x
