Hi folks. I had EC yesterday and I am so sore and bloated! They've told me at the clinic that this is normal but how long did these symptoms take to go for you? Thank you! Xxx

I was sore the following day and then back to normal. It all depends on the amount of eggs that are collected, obviously the more collected the more sore due to being pricked by the needle. Try and drink plenty of water and rest as much as possible. Good luck 😊 X

Ah I guess that makes sense - they took 7 eggs. I feel like I've been beaten up! Xx

I think it is very individual. I also had EC yesterday, but didn't feel sore at any time and I had 16 eggs collected. Good luck with your 2ww!

Good luck you too! How are you planning to keep yourself distracted during 2ww? I'm so impatient! Xx

Thanks! I'll see how it goes. At this point I still can't believe I've come so far already. I hav quite a few magazines to browse through, some cross words and films, and on top of that some improvements of the flat that will probably take my mind off it for a while. I'm just trying to tell myself that it's out of my hands, so I can't do much to change the outcome. Just hoping for the best! :-)

That's good that you're keeping busy. I'm actually looking forward to going back to work so that my mind is occupied. You're right - we can't do much to influence the outcome - just keep our fingers crossed that it works out for both of us xx

Hopefully you will have some that go to blastocyst as that will give you a few extra days to recover before transfer, that will help. Best of luck with it!

No they want to do the transfer tomorrow but it seems to be easing off  now thankfully. I've been walking like John Wayne all day - ha! Xx

Hi Sarahmanc... Snap I had my egg collection yesterday too and didn't feel to bad for the rest of the day. Woke up in the night to spend a penny and 'oh my' very sore indeed. Although I only have three eggs. You must be feeling worse than me with eight eggs .. Good luck with the rest of your IVF journey .XX

Ah well you only need 1 egg to make an embryo! It seems to be getting better. I've also discovered that the combination of progesterone gel and general anesthesia has done terrible things to my bowels 😳 so I'm bloated all over. Hubby went out at 6am this morning to get me some All Bran 😂. Good luck for your transfer xxx

Hi Sarahmanc.  Just wanted to wish you well with the embryo transfer.  Pleased to see that you are feeling better.  Do keep up with drinking plenty of water for a few more days, and hopefully your bloated tummy will soon settle.  Diane

Thanks Diane. It was very sore and crampy this morning but I've been having regular small meals and lots of water - that seems to be doing the trick 😊

Hi Sarahmanc.  Good girl!  A couple of paracetamol won't go amiss either if you need them.  Have a restful weekend.  Diane

It took a couple of days of feeling bloated but I had 19 eggs collected, I would say by day 3 i felt fine but just tired with it all so still rested xx

I went back to work in 2 days but I was sore and bloated for over a week, perhaps even two, so don't worry too much if you don't settle down straightaway xx

Hi. Egg collection is very sore?

Sarahmanc profile image
Sarahmanc in reply tojanula-

Some people sail through it but I was quite sore for a few days. I think it depends on the individual but as long as you take paracetamol, you'll be fine. Good luck 🍀

Thanks. How long is between egg collection and embryo give inside me?

Sarahmanc profile image
Sarahmanc in reply tojanula-

It depends. With me it was 2 days after egg collection but they will monitor how your embryos develop and decide the best point to implant them. Some people can wait up to 5 days. I'd talk to your consultant about it for more info.

It took a couple of days - I was pretty sore! I took paracetamol and rested with my feet up for 2 or 3 days.

Look after yourself! H xx
