How long to get blood results.

I'm currently having level 1 immunology testing. most things are back except the thrombophillia screen. Just spoken to a very unhelpful gp receptionist so thought I'd ask the question on here!  Has anyway had the full thrombophillia screen and how long it takes for results through gp? Been 2 weeks and worried about it delaying our planned FET next month as they don't won't to send out the protocol until they know the results. Thanks in advance :) x

The thrombophilia screen is particularly long to come back. I think it can take 2-3 months and then if you test positive for any of the APS tests, they retest to confirm. Not what you want to hear, I'm sure, but for some reason this test takes a long time. The good news is that if it comes back positive it can be treated with anticoagulants.

So frustrating to hear that.  When we had our follow up Appt,  the consultant suggested all our results would be back in time for us to try after a couple if bleeds. Just worried to delay as I have low amh and age not on my side.  Wanted to get going as quick as possible in case we need another cycle. Thanks for your reply x

You might get lucky and get them back sooner. I was tested a few years back in June and it was August before I had a follow up appointment. The thrombophilia tests were the last to come back. In between testing and the appointment I became pregnant naturally and then found out I was positive for aps at the appointment. They treated me as if I definitely had aps and didn't wait for the follow up test. So maybe this will happen for you as well. Maybe you can still start your protocol and when your results come back they will start treating you - generally you wouldn't start treatment for blood clotting until you get a bfp anyway.

Keep pestering your GP for the results!

You could try googling the Pathology department at your hospital and see if you can find an email address that way to ask them about turnaround times.

I've contacted our hospital previously about some blood test stuff and they were quite helpful.

Good luck

Thanks for suggestion.  Will give that a try. Can be so hard to get a clear answer sometimes!

Just wanted to say thanks for your suggestion. I have phoned the lab and they were really helpful.  They are taking 4-6 weeks for results to come back so fingers crossed that will be back in time to do my fet as planned.
