Hi Lucyfrancois. The baseline scan is to check that your womb lining is thin and that there are no problematic cysts on your ovaries. if all is well, then you will start your stimuating drug Gonal-F in your case, followed by another scan after 7-10 days to check follicle growth before deciding when to go for egg collection. Hope all goes to plan for you, and your treatment ends well. Diane

Hi. No treatment for me! Mine was years ago - and successful. I'm the nurse that looks over all the posts to see whether I can help in any way. Good luck with the stims and of course with the rest of the cycle. Diane

Hi dear! i am also on stimulation, and today is 2nd day of stimulation. Got my scan done 2 days back and all fine. They do scan to check endometrial thinning and any major ovarian cyst. If all well then only ovarian stimulation is started. Well, i wish u luck in this cycle.

I'm at Oxford Fertility Unit who have been great. I've been getting quite a few headaches and seem to be loosing a bit of hair more than normal!

Lucyfrancois profile image
Lucyfrancois in reply tomel87

Yeah the headache are very common. I was thinking about my hair but I was just thinking it was me.🙈 What injections are you starting?

mel87 profile image
mel87 in reply toLucyfrancois

So I'm using gonal - follitropin Alfa and also have ovitrelle - choriogonadotropin!

Are there different injections that people take?

It sounds like you are using a nasal spray for the Buserelin, while I was prescribed the injectable version, so I have 2 injections at the moment as I'm also on Gonal F now. I also have a big box full of medication for the weeks ahead. Walked out of the pharmacy with 2 big bags of medicine!

I started around the same time as you ladies. I'm on day 4 of gonal F today and still injecting buserelin . I also found the headaches on the buserelin really bad at the start but was told it was due to dehydration so I increased my water intake and no issues since. Try to drink 2 - 3 L. Occasionally, I get a little rash at injection site for buserelin. With the gonal F, it's so much easier as the pen is really well designed. Just make sure injections are all out of the fridge and warmed up before injecting as I was finding this really stung if they ere cold and contributed to the rash formation. I also managed to bruise myself a week ago and it's only dying down now. A tip the pharmacist told me was to inject sitting down and slightly forward as this will create a natural roll in your tummy for injecting. Hurts less!

My next scan is Friday, hoping for egg collection next week. Best of luck to you all!

Hey Hun do u know how long after ur scan would they want to to do the ec I had a scan today and I also have one on Wednesday so I get the feeling I am really near then end. Hope all is well. X

The clinic gave me a calendar printout with all the dates on my last visit, with all the drugs listed for each day so that's really helpful. My down regulation scan was last Wed and my next one is Friday, this is the one where they decide when I'm ready for ec. It could be as early as next Monday but they won't know for sure until the scan. Then the transfer will be either 3 days or 5 days after this, depending on how many eggs are collected and how many embryos grow. I'm just taking it one day at a time, it's all overwhelming otherwise!

It does sound like you're getting close to the end! I wish you the very best of luck with it, hope everything goes amazingly well.

This is a very relevant thread for me. Start my Gonal F tomorrow and Cetrozine (I think that's what it's called) on Sunday. I'm so worried about mucking up the injections!

I got a demo from the pharmacist at my clinic on how to do the injection with the Gonal F, so maybe you can ask them to help you. Basically if you inject into the stomach area pinching the area you want, you can't really go wrong. It's really quite easy but does take a little thinking about when you have to set the injection pen. I check the dosage on the label every time just to be sure. If you have ever worked in a science lab, you will think it is just like using a pipette because you use a new tip every time and set the dosage yourself. Just make sure you take it at the same time every night as well and don't be put off by it. It took me about 3 days to get used to injecting but it's like part of my evening ritual now. I inject at 8pm as it's around the time of Eastenders every night and then change into my pyjamas as it's more comfortable around the midriff after injecting! I have had no issues with the Gonal F, it is the buserelin that seems to hurt me more. I work for the company that makes Gonal F, so I'm really happy that we have what I think is a well designed product! Never thought I would be in the situation to need it but there you go.

Ugh, spoke too soon about the pen! Mine did something weird tonight and I'm not convinced I got the full dose. The plunger seems to have developed a leak so I won't be able to use it for my second dose. It'll be going back to the pharmacy tomorrow! Just hope I got my dosage for tonight, I'm really not sure that I did, I only noticed the fault after I had injected.

Hi guys, just did my first Gonal F and it was fine, though I got hubby to watch and re-read the instructions along with me. I seem to have a natural roll of fat just in the right place ha ha, well there was a cake bake at work I guess!

I'm thinking with all the scans there must be a little bit of room for failure and they'd just keep you on a day longer or something, with the exception of the HCG.
