Hey. I have pcos too and just been referred for ivf. I am surprised as I have a friend who is having the cyists removed in a keyhole procedure. I was wondering whether you have been offered that. I'm in the same boat as you. Would love to know anyone who has been successful.
Hi , no I've never had any surgery . They said 1 of my tubes was blocked too but they said it could have just been a spasm during the hsg thing ( the dye test to check your tunes) I was told by one Dr my tubes were clear and another said 1 was blocked . They said I could have a laparoscopy and mentioned ovarian drilling too which scared the life out of me . They told me it wouldn't make that much difference so I declined, As in 39 in July I didn't want to delay tgings further . There's a lot of information and so much to take in and think about . I've had lots of tears getting to this point , but after almost 2 years were finally starting treatment. Just wish I'd come on properly so I can start my first pill ( never wanted a period so much ) good luck with it all and I'm happy to answer any questions , this is a fab site and everyone has been or Is going through the same . X
I know exactly how you feel. I've been so obsessed with periods. My problem is, I don't get them at all. I was firstly prescribed provera to regulate my periods then take chlomid once I got them. I did that for a year. I am now being referred for ivf. The whole process has been emotional. I see most of my friends having babies so easily. I am happy for them but a part of me feels really sad and I can see it's affecting my husband but he won't admit it to make me feel bad. This site is brilliant as I don't like discussing these things with friends and family as they would worry. I wish you all the best. I am here whenever you want to talk. Xxx
Hi I have PCOS and am having IVF/ICSI as hubs sperm count has been low too. Best advice I've found is to read up on what you can/can't do and take each stage as it comes. Be positive but realistic and prepare in any way you can. A healthy Diet, vitamins, exercise, holistic therapies, staying stress free and planning time off at the right time all help... oh and you need bundles of patience because dates and times will change!!
Speak to your GP but you might be told to go on a higher dose of folic acid with PCOS. And there are certain foods you should avoid with PCOS. My EC is 3 weeks on Monday at the moment and it's just starting to feel very very real! Good luck girls x
I have mild PCOS but my hubby also has sperm issues so they couldn't say whether or not my PCOS was part of the reason we couldn't conceive. Once they discovered my hubby's sperm issues they stopped testing me because they said the end treatment would be the same regardless. We had ICSI and were successful first time with 3 Frosties for a future attempt. Because of my PCOS they put us on the short protocol and started me on the lowest dose of injections because of a higher risk of OHSS. As it was I started responding slowly so they upped my dose and I ended up with 10 eggs from 15 follicles which I think is quite a low number for someone with PCOS (although fine in the grand scheme of things) so looks like their plan to start me low worked exactly how they intended it to.
Good luck!
