Egg donation

Hi this is my first post. Just wanting some advice on egg donation. Does anyone know how long the waiting list is in the UK on the NHS? Also my doctor has stated that I could use a donor egg from Greece or Cyprus, as it would be quicker, has anyone reading this done this before and what does it entail? Any advice would be appreciated.

We used an egg donor. We were approved for NHS funding in January and put on the clinics waiting list. We had appointment at clinic for counselling and to talk about eye colour, hair colour,build etc that we would like from the donor then we got a call end of February saying they had found us a match. I then started medication to sync my cycle with the donor then injections to shut of my hormones while the donor had medication to help her produce more eggs. I was doing injection for about 6 weeks until donor was ready for egg collection then 5 days later we had 1 embryo put back. This was beginning of June. 2 weeks later it was time to do the dreaded test and to our amazement it had worked we got a BFP. I am now 19 weeks pregnant and loving every minute. Think it does depend on which clinic you use as to what their time scales are. Good luck with your journey xx

I wasn't entitled to NHS fertility treatment and due to my age decided to go to Spain for egg donor IVF as I was told would wait longer for donor in UK. If you want any more info message me.

We're using an egg sharing donor at a private clinic as we don't qualify for NHS treatment. Our first clinic said 18-24 months but the new clinic matched us really quickly. It might be worth considering the oversees donor if it's going to be quicker.

The clinic took our details, eg hair, eye colour, skin tone, height etc and we got a good physical match for hubby. Her pen portrait was very very similar to what I'd have written so it has worked out well. I've been for a scan and have another one booked. I'm doing injections to suppress my cycle and taking tablets prepare my womb lining for embryo transfer. They'll use hubby's sperm to fertilise the eggs.

Hi 2484 I didnt do donor egg in the UK, we did it in Spain. You may find it useful to look at the Donor Conceived Network website as there is alot of advice there. One of the differences between the UK and other countries is that egg donation in the UK is no longer anonymous, whereas in some countries (not sure about Greece), it is still anonymous, if that is important to you. I will say that people who dont know we did donor egg often say my daughter looks like me!!
