I am very new to this forum so thought I would introduce myself...
I am 30 years old ..and after trying for 2 years to have a baby me and my partner decided to visit hospital to check things were ok. When I was a child I had a lot of operations on my bowels and wore a colostomy bag until I was 2 years old which has left my tummy with very bad scar tissue!
I was told yesterday that because the scar tissue has caused thickening of my tubes I will be unable to conceive naturally and would need ivf treatment. My partner only has 7 and a half million sperm when the average male has 20 million so he would also always need ivf...I am devastated about this news , but reading this forum has helped me so thank you for your posts. I don't know if we will choose to try ivf but I will continue to use forum I have to go back soon to have my tubes pinned so that the thickening doesn't release harmful things to any embryo in the womb waiting for that appointment now really upset about things and where we go from here good luck to you all in your journeys xxx

Hi hun sounds like you have already been on a hell of a journey & you're still going! It's a tough, tough journey through fertility but you have already shown strength.
This forum is excellent for help, advice and overall support. Which ever path you choose to take remember this forum is always here. People understand on here as there's so many different experiences people have to share.
I've currently going through IVf & it's physically and emotionally draining but I wouldn't have it any other way at the mo because the overall result will (hopefully) be our little miracle. Look after yourself hun. Neve be afraid to ask questions. Xx
Hi Liz, welcome to the forum. I only joined in January and am having our first IVF treatment now. The forum is great with lots of good advice and kind words. Good luck on your journey x
Hello Liz, I'm sorry to hear this. I think it's right to take some time to absorb the news and to decide how you and your husband want to proceed.
My husband and I have been trying for 2 years too so I understand how difficult it is without all of the added complications! We have unexplained infertility which, I take as meaning something is wrong but they can't work out what! We're just about to start IVF and have our first appointment in mid-March.
Over the last few months I've been to see a counsellor and it's really helped to talk through things with her. It's absolutely devastating when you can't/struggle to conceive naturally and it's important to make sure you have the right support in place.
Also, it's ok to be sad and to have days when you need a really good cry! That sounds obvious but many people I looked to for 'support' panicked when I got upset and tried to make me stop, mainly because it hurt them to see me upset.
That said, try to do things which help you relax too (for me it's gym, tai chi, readings, acupuncture or a massage) but you may find other things help.
I wish you all the best, whatever road you decide to take x
Hi dear I dont want to dishearten you and I don't have a success story as yet. But I have been trying ivf for the last 3 years. Had 3 attempts. One was positive but sadly miscarried at 10 weeks. I am a endo patient and because of scarring cant het pregnant naturally. But I have not given up hope. And I believe one day we will have our dream in our arms. Just dont give up. Xoxo
It took me a while to process the results from our fertility tests, you don't have to make any decisions yet. My hubby only has 2 million sperm, poor mobility and odd shapes (this was a huge shock as NHS guesses were it was due to my age and egg quality), so we had to have ICSI.
I hope you don't have to wait too long to have your op or for your next consultant appointment.
It also took me a while to process the results ...I cried a lot at first, I was also shocked to learn there was a problem with my partner as I had presumed it was only me, I have already spoken about it at length with my partner and we have decided to give IVF a go, so I think it will just be a case of waiting and hoping now as for most of us unfortunately! Thank you for your message sweetie xxx
Glad to hear you and your partner are talking about it all. The only advantage of this whole experience is that it has bought myself and hubby even closer together.
Good luck and I hope you don't have to wait too long.
