I have just joined and am currently having investigations as to why I can't seem to get pregnant... I have regular periods although found out last week I have a cyst on my ovary which apparently doesn't affect my fertility... Therefore wondering what the problem could be?....
Anyone else had this problem!.... X

Hi hunni been exactly where you are.. I'm Jess and my hubby have been ttc for over 3 years.. I have a son from a previous relationship.. Long story cut short ours was unexplained infertility by 2 years of investigations run by the nhs.. The most annoying frustrating diagnosis ever..! Dismissed from nhs clinic in June this year.. Told it was trying or ivf..and the nhs would not fund us as I've gotta child already..despite hubby not having any children.. Anyway booked into a private clinic to see if I could egg share in order to fund my ivf ANd at the same time help another women have a baby too.. Anyway if was there that if was discovered our infertility was not unexplained..surprise surprise..always knew there was a reason..! It turned out that I had a small left ovary.. A really low amh only 5.37(should be between 10 to 15 for my age)..and a high tsh 3.9 which has now lowered to 1.56 since taking thyroxine(optimum results for successful implantation should be under 2.5)which I will need to take throughout my ivf treatment and need checking once I'm pregnant..
Just waiting for hubby to do his screening blood tests for our ivf( only valid for 3 months till egg collection..was told to hold off doing em till my tsh was good) everything is all set to go for our ivf.. Very excited

Hi Emmalouw, Welcome to the group. I am new to the group too (only joined end of last week) and have already received so much support from the ladies on here and even gained new information and possible options to try. I am in a different situation to yourself but wish you all the best with your investigations. It is so frustrating just feeling in the dark but at least you're now on the path to finding out how you can have a gorgeous little bundle of joy.

Has your partner had a semen analysis done yet? A third of infertility is caused by male factor problems. Unfortunately that’s one of the problems me and my hubby are facing.
I also have a cyst (endometrioma) on my ovary which only really causes me problems when I ovulate from that side, it causes awful stabby pains for a couple of days. This was spotted on a transvaginal scan. I have been told that this shouldn’t cause any fertility problems.
I’ve learnt there are many reasons for difficulty conceiving and the road to any kind of diagnosis is long! In the meantime do what you can to help yourself. I few things I’d recommend are keeping an ovulation calendar so you can work out when the best time to try is, take a conception vitamin get your partner to take one too (Wellman conception aid) and get down to a healthy bmi if you aren’t there already. Also try to keep stress to a minimum (easier said than done!) remember to keep talking about how you feel with friends and your partner.
It’s a bit of a roller-coaster but there are always people on the forum to talk to if you need advice or just want a rant.

We had the results back from my partners sperm analysis... And his results are very low.. Low count and low motility.... He's been told to stop protein shakes as he uses them for the gym and to take the wellman tablets and have a re test in 3/6 months to see if it's increased...
My BMI is just over 30... So need to loose 12 pound to be able to have any treatments done on the NHS.. I have already lost 10 pound so 12 more to go!!
Sorry to hear about this result. My husband’s second test came back worse than the first (3% healthy sperm)! He was devastated and has had a hard time coming to terms with this. Says he feels like less of a man. I don't know what I can say to make him feel any better about it. It's just one of those things you have to deal with in life. A friend said something nice to me the other day, she said 'anyone can get someone pregnant it takes a real man to be a father'. I hope your partner takes the news better than mine did.
I'm still hoping it will happen for us. I count my blessings. At least we still have a chance and a few options. Your partner has some healthy sperm, remember it only takes one!!
Our next step is IUI as long as my partners next sample preps ok, if not then it’s straight to ICSI. At our local clinic there’s a six month waiting list for this. We're still trying naturally for the time being. It still could happen. I’m now taking my basal temp daily to help me predict ovulation so we can up our chances.
Well done on the weight loss. I know it's hard to focus on this during a stressful time but keep in mind what you're doing it for. I found the Rosemary Conley healthy eating plan really helpful. Helps you understand calories and fat content, really helpful if you want to make changes for life and not put the weight back on.
