I have a diagnosis for my misscarriage at 12 weeks...

After going thru the whole trauma of icsi and falling pregnant 1st time I miscarried at 12 weeks ( fetous was 10 wks) my husband demanded tests to be taken from the fetous. . Results came bk as rare abnormal chromosomes. . He said my baby had no chance of survival. . Its been a roller coaster as you can imagine but ive accepted whats happened and am relieved there was an amswer... its my second miscarriage so far ( 1st was naturally cconceived with different partner) so I thought there was something wrong with me... the consultant said ive just been very unlucky... so my next step is to have both our chromosome s tested.. and we will go thru the whole icsi/ivf this time next year

Also my consultant said abnormal chromosomes are quite common with having ivf

h sum1sweeta I am pleased to learn you got an answer to your questions, my clinic told us that I could have a miscarriage through IVF, I think its because the embryologist don't know which embryos are normal inside, just how they appear to look under the microscope, that's the big disadvantage about IVF, its all about finding the right egg and sperm that are both normal. I do hope you are feeling abit better now that you know but at the same time it dosnt take away your pain after what happened.. look after your self. xx

Hi sum1sweeta. Oh bless you! So devastating to have had to have gone through 2 miscarriages. However, at least you now know that some steps are being made to check you and your husband out for chromosomal abnormalities. Should a problem be found, then hopefully they will be able to perform PGD (pre-implantation genetic diagnosis) on your embryos to exclude any that may be at fault. Of course your last loss may have been a “one-off” - all very daunting for you, I’m sure, but be comforted that investigations can be done to hopefully ensure an ongoing pregnancy next time. Diane

Thank you diane thats very reassuring. . Im really hopeing they will perform the tests and like you say perform a pdg that will put my mind at rest thru the next pregnancy x
