How long does your period last for after a failed Ivf and is it classed as a miscarriage
Hi if you have a failed cycle the embryo just dissolves in your body along with the others cells and it just passes when you have a period and you wouldn't even notice it, my period started when I stopped the pessaries and it was 1 week late, the next month it was 5 days late then the 3rd month it was back to normal. It just takes time to click back in. I think having a failed cycle is similar to a miscarriage but I don't think they really call it a miscarriage unless you had a positive pregnancy test.
Hi, Danielle has said it all. The period can be a little heavier as the lining has been thickened possibly more than normal. Whilst not a miscarriage, you will feel the loss as you know you have had healthy embryos inside of you.Afterwards, your consultant should have a meeting with you to review what happened in your treatment.
Hi all, I think FLowergirl and danielle are right. It is probably not medically classed as a miscarriage although emotionally can feel like that. My period following failed fresh cycle was very heavy, the period after was late (like Danielle says) but this period which I've just had was back to normal cycle length and quite light (normal for me). Definitely review with your consultant after - it may just be 'bad luck', ie - the embryo just didnt stick. So therefore you can try again if you feel able to xxx
Hi, I recently had a failed cycle and my period started the day I stopped the pessaries, it lasted 8 days on and off! I was so upset that it felt like a miscarriage because I had got my hopes up so.much. I now have to wait 3 months before trying again, they said it takes that long for your body and mentally to get back to normal. I am now waiting for my period and it's already 3 days late. Hope we all have better luck next time x
