Anyone been in the same situation or anyone waiting for IVF .
Thank you
Me and my husband had unexplained fertility problems all tests came back fine which was very frustrating! We had two rounds of ivf in 2010/2011 and now have a beautiful daughter who is 18mths aftet our second ivf worked! Wishing you all the best for your journey and try to remain positive xx
My husband & I have been trying for 10 years, never had children, I am 42 and DH is 52, everything is fine with both of us, we have just undergone our first round of IVF and ICSI. I had only 2 follicles which luckily had an egg each and one fertilised and did very well so that one is now inside me and I have 4 more days to my pregnancy test! I am praying for a miracle. Good luck to you xx
Julybabe what a nerve wracking time in your life right now! and my thoughts and wishes are with you please keep me updated there is still hope I know that I just can't help feeling a little down sometimes especially when they say that unexplained because it's not like you have a diagnostic. good luck Best wishes xx
Hi Belle 7 I'm in exactly this position. I've had all the tests likewise hubby and it's unexplained. We are currently waiting referral to Hammersmith Hospital which seems to be taking an age
Hi monster one yeah it is taking forever 5weeks i've waited so far for my referral for Ivf I will give them a call next week it is not here by Monday. I'm really nervous and I've not told anybody at work and the thing is I don't really want them to know my business. Although when it comes down to the injections I work really random Shifts working in hospitality. I think I'll have to give my job in. stress levels are too much at the moment so I can't imagine what it's going to be like when going through the actual process,
I hope everything goes well For you and your partner. This is a great forum it really is you can just speak to people there in the same situation we really don't feel alone. Xx
Hi Belle totally understand where you are coming from. I initially didn't tell anyone but was getting so upset about it that I eventually confided in a few close friends. (Even though they all have children!) but needed to talk to someone. I've chased up my referral too & have been told they have received it & will hear in due course :-(. Not really an answer as such. It's so hard and emotional have even looked into going private & going abroad for treatment. X
We were classed as 'unexplained' and what we were told by doctor at IVF clinic is that this is what the fertility nurse decided. After a short meeting with him and going through my gynae history he said it wasn't unexplained. He said I was having difficulty ovulating which is why we were given clomid (which didn't work) and are now about to embark on IVF treatment.
Don't be afraid to ask questions... It may be that whoever has spoken to you so far doesn't want to make the diagnosis because it may mean they have to do something different... It's almost as if it's just easier to say its unexplained so the referral goes through and you have the treatment without having to do more tests etc.
I guess if you're private and self funding you could request an explanation but ultimately the IVF treatment will help you achieve your goal.
What's frustrating is that there's no way of knowing how to improve your ovulation naturally... I read lots of different things and spoke to people about nutrition and lifestyle but there's so much conflicting information it can become confusing and you end up living your life according to rules that you can't adapt to or just don't feel right.
We have only been trying for three years but that feels like long enough!
Sorry it's long winded and a bit confused but it's late on a Friday and I've had a LONG week at work! X
Hi yes this is very similar as the first nurse we spoke to she told that I wasn't always releasing an eggs every month. This showed in my latest blood results, but then when we spoke to another nurse she said everything was absolutely fine. We've been trying for 4yrs it seems forever so I totally understand what you mean you get people at work all around you friends and family members and you feel quite washed out to hear them say "I'm pregnant I didn't even know" "this wasn't planned "it really does take once " it's really really daunting to be fair if I'm really honest. Let's just hope that our time comes it's a long long journey and if you can come out on to The other side with a smile on your face then I just hope it's worth it. Xxxxx

New test for NK. Natural Killer or Sticky Blood. Seems a lot of women with NK or sticky blood have unexplained infertility. It's like a hyperactive immune system that prevents anything from implanting. Depending on results, you will either have aspirin like injections, blood transfusions, or something else.
I'm in the same position we have have unexplained infertility,so understand how you must feeling. It's such a frustrating diagnosis to get. My husband and I have been trying for 2 years and 7 months feels much longer tho!!We too are about to go down the ivf route. We are awaiting our appointment to see our consultant in June,to get our referral for ivf,we don't get nhs funding so I'm going to do egg sharing to help with the costs, also I think it's wonderful to have the opportunity to give another women have the chance of becoming a mother. I think ivf is the most effective treatment for unexplained infertility. Never thought I would be so excited about the prospect of ivf . It's just I find it so disheartening every month when my period arrives,I'm sure every women feels that bitter disappointment.
I think this site is amazing, lovely to be able to talk/support others going through the same thing. What stage are you with your ivf? Wishing you all the very best for a successful outcome. Please keep me updated to how you get on. Good luck with everything X x x
Hi Belle7,
We have just been referred for ivf after 'unexplained' results. It's all a bit confusing really. Just wondered how you were getting on 2 months down the line? We were referred back in December, got our tests in March and given the go ahead for one ivf yesterday- it takes so long!
Hope it's all going to plan.
Hey a.... Great at least you have a chance. We are with Coventry what about you? We'll we will start in the beginning of August due to our holiday next month. It's such a stressful time especially not knowing !!!! Unexplained is the worst word I have heard if I'm honest. Keep me updated. Good luck with everything. Xxx
