Not ovulating

My husband and I have been ttc for 2 and a half years now. We have had our tests etc and have found that I am not ovulating. We are waiting to be referred to the hospital. What happens next?

Hi Bone,

It depends on if you meet all the criteria for NHS funded cycle or self fund for how long you may have to wait. The timescales can be considerably different. We received a questionnaire to complete and return to our hospital, I presume each hospital does this. Afterwards you will receive a letter from your hospital with a date for first appointment where a doctor/nurse will discuss everything with you and possibly arrange for further tests. Once they receive those results they will be able to provide you with a treatment plan.

When we were waiting I gave the hospital a quick call to see if they had our referral and rough timescales. Have you considered calling your hospital to see if they could answer your questions?

Good luck xxx

Hi tazza thank you for your reply. I'm guessing that they will try to get me ovulating before they try and do anything else? I haven't received any information about it yet but that was only 2 weeks ago that doctor said she would refer us. I'm 29 and my husband is 34 but he has a child from a previous relationship.

They might do some further tests, to check your tubes aren't blocked. They're likely to repeat your hormone levels and your husband's semen analysis.

however, having a child from a previous relationship can hinder accessing NHS treatment. Decisions are made by your local Commissioning Group. There are details about this on the Infertility Network UK website. I can't predict what this might mean, so you may wish to check that out, or at least be aware.

Good luck

Hi,

One of my clients went through exactly this. They gave her a high dose of Clomid for three months and in that time she only ovulated once, producing just two eggs, and although they ttc, nothing happened. If you're missing some nutrient in your body then your body can't function fully, so often the drugs they give you don't help.

You can read my client's story here: truhealthtreatments.com/tes...

I would strongly suggest you modify your diet to make sure you're getting all the nutrients you need. Even if you eat a healthy diet (i.e. not having anything that's bad for you) you can still be missing particular nutrients just because we all tend to eat the same sorts of foods without enough variety.

You can email me or call me via my website if you want to chat some more.

Take care,

THT
