After my visit to my nurse as we have being trying for our 1st baby my age is 40 I have being told as my cycle is regular I won't get any tests for at least 2years of trying we have being trying for nearly a year is this true am from stoke on Trent .

go speak with your gp. for your age, you should be considering contacting your gp after trying for as long as you have.

Defo get an appt asap. It's only 6 months of trying in late 30s early 40's. Also if they don't offer you an AMH blood test I would highly recommend you paying privately for it!

Hi Georgiewakey. I agree with the others. You must go back to your GP and ask for a referral to an infertility specialist. You have been trying for a year, which is long enough for someone of your age. If you ask your GP, he/she can start the ball rolling by organising some blood tests to check whether you are in fact ovulating or not, and also to check your FSH level (follicle stimulating hormone), which should be between 2-10 ideally. A regular menstrual cycle is good, but does not mean that all is well. You would have to check with your local CCG (Clinical Commissioning Group) to see what is available, treatment wise, in your area. I do hope that all works out well for you both. Kind regards Diane.
