Do I have a fertility problem?

Me and my partner have been trying for a baby for 15 Months. I am 22 and he is 23, we try a couple times a week and had no luck so far, I don't know if I'm timing it wrong as this is the first month I've timed it around ovulation. We are unsure at what our options are and where we should get help?

Hiya your doctor can do blood tests to make sure you are ovulating, they can also check your partners sperm count. There can be many reasons why you have not yet conceived ie food you eat, may be you are not relaxed and thinking about it to much, stress. If you are still concerned then you can request to see a gyne consultant who can run further tests to check your tubes etc. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Hi. As paeroking suggests, an appointment with your GP should be your next step. He/she can organise a “Day 21 progesterone” test to check for ovulation. Also a hormone check done on Day 2 of your menstrual cycle might be offered, plus semen analysis for your partner. I would also recommend that you have regular intercourse throughout your cycle, every 3 days at least. This will ensure a supply of live sperm waiting in your tubes for when you do ovulate. This of course depends upon semen analysis and that your tubes and ovulation are OK. If a problem should be found, I think I would request an appointment with an infertility consultant for further investigations. It is good that you are young, and I wish you both well with the outcome. Kind regards Diane

Hi, I would say a couple of times a week isn't enough! You need to be more active then that, especially around the time you ovulate, so you need to really focus a bit more about monitoring the timing of your ovulation - there are a few methods - with ovulation prediction kits (expensive), or by charting your temperature (need a thermometer), or by being in tune with your cervical mucus (sorry, TMI).

I'd do that in parallel with going to your GP, as the tests that are being described take time to actually be taken, so there is always potential that if you're doing the above, then you will get pregnant naturally.

Thank you for the advice. I am making an appointment to see my GP, in terms of active the past 2 months have been very active for us which is quite strange, hopefully we can stick at it lol.

It really puzzles me how some people can get pregnant just like that without trying or anything yet i have been having so much trouble but thank you for your answer, i apreciate the responses.
