It feels like one thing after another with this pregnancy. We had the 20 week scan today, and everything looked ok with the baby but they discovered I have a shorted cervix (12mm) and slight funnelling. I’ve been put back on progesterone and scheduled a cervical cerclage for Monday morning.
I’m going out of my mind with worry that I’m going to go into preterm labour and not sure how I’m going to get through the next few days/ weeks without being constantly on high alert.
Does anyone have any positive stories to share to reassure me?
Thank you so much

It's not my story but a friend of mine is currently pregnant and got the same diagnosis. She was put on pessaries and is just now coming up to 37 weeks and baby is doing fine. Hope everything goes well for you.
I'm a midwife and cared for a few women in this situation with positive outcomes - the progesterone and cerclage work well! I had one woman in particular who I attended theatre and recovery with for the cerclage and was lucky enough to be on shift and care for her as she birthed her beautiful son at 37 weeks.
I know it's impossible not to worry, but the preterm teams are so good at prophylactic measures you're in amazing hands ❤️ I'll have everything crossed for you - and have seen so many good outcomes I have lots of faith you'll be fine xxx
My sister in law had an emergency cerclage at 23 weeks and carried until 35! I had a preventative placed at 12 weeks (had a prior loss) and gave birth recently at 29 weeks - they are twins though so double the weight. I was essentially carrying one full size baby when I gave birth. Progesterone and cerclage can be very effective. Also taking it easy - not lifting anything heavy or walking up and down stairs. Think of it this way - you’re incredibly lucky to have caught the shortened cervix. Most of us with cervical insufficiency have had a prior loss before it’s diagnosed.
I’ll keep you in my thoughts. Please reach out if you need anything.
I just really hope they can do the procedure tomorrow as I’m going out of my mind with worry, particularly just resting in bed or on the sofa! I’m scared to move too much in case something happens. Finding it hard to find sitting positions that don’t put any extra pressure on my pelvis!
