Has anyone had any experience of this? I’ve just received a letter from the NHS saying my placenta was sent away to be tested as my baby was born 1st centile and has come back with signs of inflammation. They said it could possibly be an immune response which I’m presuming it is as I have two auto immune conditions and also had to use donor eggs as my eggs were such bad quality they wouldn’t fertilise. I’m feeling immense guilt about it all now that my body isn’t fit to grow a child and that I’ve caused her problems. Going to discuss with rheumatology at my next appointment but would love to chat with someone who had similar issues.
Thanks for your help xxx

I didn’t want to read and run. I’m in the same position, just waiting on my histology results from the placenta, Basically, I too had a baby that was 1st percentile. Doctors took her out at 37 weeks as my dopplers were very high (96th percentile). I understand how difficult it is, and it’s natural for you to feel this way, but now that your baby is out, they will grow and thrive. You did everything you could. Will update here once I get my results x
Hello my lovely My son was born on 2nd percentile. They didn't test my placenta for inflammation but I do have several autoimmune conditions and my rheumatologist thought my son wasn't growing well because of that. He is 2.5 years old and just below the 50th percentile and a healthy boy.
I understand how you are feeling but you have done nothing wrong and they were right when they told me babies do eventually catch up.
Thanks for your reply. Delighted to hear your little one is thriving now as well ❤️ I’ve calmed down a bit now, got a bit of a shock when the letter turned up in the post!! Interesting your rheumatologist agrees, I had no idea heading into it that it was a risk xxx
