Cylogest for short cervix

Cyclogest question - is 200mg once per day enough…?

Hey, thanks for reading my post, I’m incredibly anxious.

This is my 5th pregnancy after 4 miscarriages (first trimester so not IC related). I am now 17 weeks and have had my cervix measured due to previous loophole excision. It was 30mm at 16 weeks.

I have been on 800mg of cyclogest since I found out I was pregnant, and now the doctor has advised me to go to 200mg straight away (vaginally - I have been using them rectally) to support cervix. I have another scan in 2 weeks for a re-measure.

I just wondered if 200mg is enough? I’m so so nervous about cutting down immediately and also asked if I could use rectally and they said no (vaginally always seems to really irritate my cervix and cause spotting which in turn causes more anxiety).

Sorry for the long post but I’d be so grateful for your thoughts and reassurance. X

Hello,

Firstly I’m so sorry to hear of your losses and wishing you all the best for your pregnancy. It’s great they have taken the measurement and will re scan. The cyclogest should support cervix length and hopefully it will increase in the next few weeks.

I had a cerclage at 19 weeks as I measured considerably below 25mm. I’m on cyclogest daily and was advised I can use either way. Not being rescanned until 30 weeks.

Hope all goes well at your next scan.

The placenta is producing enough hormones for the baby now - the 200 mg is to help support the cervix This can be a stressful time might be an idea to look for extra support See our website fertilitynetworkuk.org Access to Support then select Fertility Groups scroll to UK-Wide Groups to find Pregnancy & Beyond Groups - follow prompts to register Next meeting via Zoom Tuesday 23rd July 8pm

Hi. Have they suggested the possibility of a cervical stitch, maybe later in your pregnancy. Just a thought. Diane
