Low amniotic fluid - 11+5 weeks pregnant

Hi all,I had my 12 week scan just a few days before at 11 weeks 5 days. Scan showed low amniotic fluid. This meant baby was also curled up (I think it's the reason-may not be) and so measured slightly less at 11 weeks. Everything else looked fine. But I'm really nervous about the low amniotic fluid. Doesn't seem to be improving (was showing low a few weeks before at a private scan). Deepest pocket measuring at 1.6 cm. I actually don't know what this means but don't think it's great. Can anyone shed any light on what this might mean - Internet not very positive and mostly giving me information on low amniotic fluid in the 3rd trimester. Any thing at all welcomed as I'm getting so anxious and information/knowledge eases me! 😌

Not usually good news :( They should have referred you to a perinatologist for a more specialized scan or offered additional testing. 2 scans in a row with similar findings should warrants more investigation!

"Deepest pocket" is the largest area of amniotic fluid. I think at this stage 2cm is absolute minimum and they don't like it above 8 or 10 cm?

In the meantime drink as much water as humanly possible to rule out dehydration. Dehydration can lead to low amniotic fluid

Good luck!

Hi Jumpppy thank you so much for replying. I think it's always good to be aware of all possibilities (atleast for me). They did re book me in for a scan on Wednesday ( so 6 days later ) and I'm already under a high risk pregnancy as I have sickle cell and other health complications. I think I'll try and make sure I actually get to speak to the doctor though next time to really ask what it all means. As at the moment I've not been told anything. Thanks for replying - really helpful! :) it's all so nerve wracking - 3rd pregnancy -1st 2 ended in early miscarriage.. so that doesn't help the anxiety! Thanks again.

Good luck - hope it's lucky #3 πŸ˜€ Honestly keep super hydrated it makes a big difference. Hydration won't create too much fluid, but it'll keep your body working right and the fetus passing fluids.

Thank you - Jumpppy will try and keep drinking bucketloads ! :)
