Meriofert - messed up dose

Yesterday I messed up my injection last night - I am supposed to be taking 4 powder viles to one liquid - My husband was filling up and got to number 2. He got frustrated trying to suck up the liquid and I took over.....number 3 and 4 were sucked up fine by me. When we looked at the syringe it looked like very little liquid and we wondered if some had been lost. We decided it hadn't and then injected. After this my husband syringed up a saline and it was almost double the liquid we saw in the one we injected. So some was definitely lost in between sucking up 1/2. I should have just redone it all when i had doubts. I don't know why i didnt. I called the nurse and she said because we didnt know how much was lost i couldnt do more. I feel so stupid - ive probably had a half dose and theres nothing I can do about it now. . This was day three. I am due a scan on friday.

which days are crucial for these meds?

Any advice or input appreciated. Thanks :)

I know it's much easier said than done but try not to worry. They can always increase your dose if there isn't enough of a response when they scan you. When I started my second cycle, I was really confused by how much I needed in the syringe because the numbers on the syringe didn't match the dose they had told me to take. Turned out that they had given me syringes that were far too small so I ended up giving myself 10% of what I should have had. This only happened for one dose and didn't seem to have any effect at all in the end.

I don't know about you, but I found it a lot to take on with the injections. I was doing something I'd never done before and had no expertise in, but the outcome was so important and it felt like a lot of pressure. Don't be hard on yourself for it and hopefully the clinic can reassure you when you have your scan.

Thank you for your reply. Yeah it's alot! I fell out with my husband after that and we didn't talk all day. (not very mature I know) so i was on my own doing last nights injections - I changed the room I mixed the stuff in, the light was so much better! All went really well and no stress. I think I'll manage on my own now. I feel a bit better about the mess up now... although I don't think they will be able to increase as I think im on max. Just hoping the rest of the injections are enough.

Do you have a partner? What were they like during the process?

Yeah my husband is really supportive and also infuriating sometimes 😂 I did all my injections myself because I'd find it worse for him to be sticking me. He's also slightly squeamish about it whereas that side of things doesn't bother me. He's been understanding of what I wanted/needed too but we've had our ups and downs. It's a really stressful process and it definitely takes its toll but don't beat yourself up. Glad your injection went better last night!

Hi CuppppaTea. Listen, you had some of the medication so some is better than none. Just carry on now and good luck. Diane
