Covid - 23 weeks pregnant

Happy new year to you all. I woke up to the first day of what I’m hoping will be the best year of my life only to find I was feeling a bit unwell and have tested positive for Covid 😪 Is there any reason I should be concerned for the health of my baby? I’m 22 weeks and 5 days pregnant with my first and feeling quite worried about it. It’s the first time I’ve had Covid. I have had my booster. Thanks in advance for any advice or reassurance xx

Hi there, I got covid at 12 weeks pregnant and was very unwell (had no jabs at that point) but baby was absolutely fine. We take the brunt of it apparently! Rest and drink lots of fluids. But im sure baby will be fine 🥰

Thank you ♥️ Glad your baby is ok. It’s just hard not to worry isn’t it? I know other people who had Covid while pregnant but when it’s yourself it seems a lot scarier xx

I had it about 12/13 weeks a few days after my booster.

All my scans etc after this have been fine and I recovered well.

It didn't seem to have any negative effect....

They offered me an additional late scan at 32 weeks to double check just in case.

Hope you recover quickly. I was very worried too when I had it....

Xxx

Thank you. I’m glad everything was ok for you. I have an extra scan at 30 weeks anyway due to low lying placenta so it’ll be good to get checked out then - seems ages away but I guess as long as I can feel the baby moving I’ll have that reassurance to keep me going xx

I was told to move around as much as possible - and it helped me and circulation etc xxx

Thank you, that’s reassuring and good to hear xx

I had it badly , I had it following a nasty respiratory virus where I was on an inhaler which didn’t help . I think I was just in my 2nd trimester and had trouble for several months after it with breathing and coughing but just to reassure you I am absolutely fine now and my baby is completely fine and healthy. Also if you are very bad with it they should take good care of you, e.g. i got checked out fully at a&e - not at all to worry you . Good luck!

I hope you don’t feel too bad and recover quickly! Sending get well wishes! 🥰

you should be fine but let your midwife know anyway just in case. The most dangerous time is 3rd trimester and you’re not quite there yet and that’s only if you’re not vaccinated and you’ve done all to mitigate it. Rest up, plenty of fluids and hope you feel better soon x
