I’m 41 weeks today. 3 attempted sweeps and yesterday they attempted induction (balloon) but after 3 attempts had to abort coz they couldn’t get in. Apparantly my cervix is still far back and only half a cm open. You hear all these stories about leaving it too long for the placenta. I’m like 😳
I’ve been ball bouncing, walking, pregnancy yoga, stairs, rasp leaf tea, hand expressing …. Nothing !
hope you are all good. I’m just worried about leaving the cake in the oven too long xxx

Alas I have nothing but old wives tales to offer. My sister swore that a spicy meal did it for her. There's an Italian restaurant in the U.S. that swears women who eat their eggplant parmesan go into labor, and they even have pictures of the babies on the walls. The place is called Scalini's. I'm aware that this is probably nonsense, and not remotely based on science, but here is the story and the recipe lol bonappetit.com/story/scalin...
LuxFleur Lol we are in GA, USA and went to Scalinis and induced 2 days later.
Boo718 - on OB #3 and all say they won't let you go past 41wk, 0 days. Did they give you the insert that softens your cervix? For my first requiring induction they did an enema (optional, but nurse swore by it to trigger contractions) + cervical insert (at 10pm) followed by pitocin once the cervix started to soften (5 or 6 am). Worked fast-delivered at 10am. (Thankfully otherwise they move you into surgery)
Old wives tale (I didn't try because I was worried about water breaking in my bed 🙃 but worked for friends) - lots of orgasms (via any method) 😀
Oh Boo you must be soo uncomfortable! If you go over 40 weeks in my area the NHS offer an appointment at a chill clinic where you get a massage and do aromatherapy to help induce labour. Maybe you could see there is somewhere near you where you could get a massage? A friend of mine swears the massage and aromatherapy kick started her labour. For me I just bounced non stop on the ball for a week, walked lots, watched things that made me laugh and ate my favourite food to get my oxytocin going. Fingers crossed you don't have to wait much longer to meet your little one x
Hey Boo, hope you're not feeling too uncomfortable! I was exactly the same. Got to 41 weeks. Repeated attempts at induction (pessaries) and sweeps couldn't be done as cervix was back and closed. Waited 3 more days and they offered me an elective c-section. Our baby girl wasn't coping with the induction process that well (consistent raised heart rate) so we decided to go for the c-section in the end. Hope things get moving soon for you, wishing you a positive birth experience and a lovely happy healthy baby to cuddle 🤗 x
thank you for your reply. We are in exactly the same boat. Although the baby seems quite chilled even during the failed inductions. It just doesn’t seem to want to come out 😂🤦♀️ I was a bit worried about it being so far past the date but after reading this I feel a bit better. Hope you and the wee one are well xxx
This was me a few weeks ago went with an elective section for many reasons. I got to 42 weeks exactly and half of me thought I'd go into labour whilst waiting for the c section. No such luck.
