Hope you are well. Im currently pregnant after having IVF (FET) and I’ve based how far along I am off my period (i used a calculator for ivf and it gave me a day after what i got off my period). I had my blood screening appointment yesterday and they asked me about my egg collection and transfer dates for the screening. After the appointment I realised I said the wrong month for my collection as it was pre-covid and so my age was wrong. I called the FMU team back and the midwife I spoke to gave me a EDD of a nearly a week later and so now im panicking about my medications as I’ve stopped some of the medicines (Cyclogest pessary/Progynova vaginal) as I thought i was 12 weeks.
How have other people worked out their weeks prior to the first scan? Im conscious i may have stopped my medication a week earlier now
Sorry for the long message!

Hi Rp. I was always taught that you calculated the weeks from embryo transfer, when it is assumed you are already 2/40wks pregnant. First scan date is worked out from there, then you get your viabi;ity scan which tells you for certain. Why don't you check with your midwife as to whether you need to use more pessaries. Hope all continues as it should with the rest of your pregnancy. Diane
Thanks Dianne, I spoke to my IVF nurse team and they said my calculation is probably only off by a few days so not worry. I am still on some other medication so just need to make sure to take those for longer 😊
Hi there. My IVF told me my date. But then confusingly the NHS gave me a different date at my 12 week dating scan. So now I have two different dates 5 days apart which is so confusing!! And I don't think the NHS will budge on it which is bizarre as with IVF they know exactly when you concieved! Xxx
Hi there. When I told my clinic I was pregnant they gave me the due date, based on being 2 weeks pregnant on the date of egg collection (not transfer day). I was measuring 6 days ahead at our 12 week scan but the NHS haven’t changed my date, they say they never do with IVF as they know the dates already. I suppose different NHS trusts view it differently but mine hasn’t changed the dates x
I was told by my clinic egg collection - 2 weeks is the date of your ‘last period’ as they assume a 28 day cycle. So 10 weeks from EC is 12 weeks pregnant. Online calculators give the same date xx
I had a fresh cycle so I understand you can take egg collection as basically 2 weeks pregnant. At 12 week scan however baby was measuring a few days ahead and the midwife said that despite knowing exact dates from treatment they would still go with the growth dates from the scan so I wouldn’t worry too much. I stopped pessaries at almost 13 weeks as I was told just to finish the boxes I had but midwife said the placenta should be producing enough itself from around 10 weeks so I’m sure it will be fine if you stopped a wee bit earlier than 12. X
