hi yes I had this. Diagnosed around 32 weeks from memory. They did weekly blood tests to keep an eye on it. It did improve a bit towards the end. We were planned c section at 39 weeks so it got bright forward to 38 weeks. Otherwise no treatment. LO is four months now. 🥰 Good luck x

this is so reassuring. Thank you. is there any chance you can remember how high your levels were? My ALT is 110 which, according to mr Google, is dangerously high! X

Hi, yes, I did and it turned out to be HELLP syndrome. I don’t want to worry you as it may not be in your case but it went undiagnosed for weeks late in my pregnancy. I ended up with excruciating abdominal pain and having to have an emergency section under general anaesthetic as it caused my platelet count to drop so low that the risk of bleeding was too high for me to have pain relief.

It could also be intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy. Do you have any other symptoms like itchy hands or feet?

no other symptoms. I’ve now had blood results and they’ve lowered which is positive. They’re checking levels again on Friday. Was the outcome of your pregnancy okay? X

Ah, glad they’ve lowered & hope it’s the same on Friday 🤞 My baby boy arrived safe & well thankfully although it was all very traumatic.

I’m not sure where my notes are. Will have another dig around during the week.

I had liver enzymes elevated throughout the whole pregnancy. It was initially an accidental finding during fertility treatment. I had all possible liver related tests done - all came back clear. My ALT/AST were monitored throughout the pregnancy - they came down significantly after I came off all IVF meds but still stayed elevated (ALT around 100) throughout the pregnancy. It didn’t cause any issues and I just had blood tests every few weeks to monitor the levels.

thank you for replying. My ALT was 110 which Mr Google (who I know you should never trust!!) said indicated serious liver disease so I got myself in a bit of a panic! X

It doesn’t necessarily mean something serious (eg. could be a reaction to some medications) but it should definitely be investigated and monitored.
