Tummy bug 38 weeks!

I have gotten a tummy bug from my daughter and partner!

Any tips from anyone who had similar when pregnant?

I am waiting to check with the midwife what I can take as so scared to get dehydrated.

I have diorlyte sachets for rehydration, but not 100% sure how many I can take in pregnancy.

Anyone been through this with any tips would be great x

Hi, I had a d&v bug at about 36 weeks and I rang my GP who advised me to contact maternity assessment, they asked me to go in and get checked out. They actually gave me IV fluids as I was quite dehydrated even after only about 12 hours, although I couldn't even keep sips of water down. They also gave me some anti sickness medication which helped so much.Really hope you're feeling better soon x

Good idea - I will ring my gp. The midwife I just saw had no advice whatsoever! 😳

Thanks for your reply! X

It sometimes feels like nobody is willing to take any responsibility when trying to get advice. If you get no joy with GP my local MAU were always fantastic. Towards the end of my pregnancy I felt like I was on the phone to them constantly with various things! X

Thanks Emma - yes my GP said deal directly with the hospital at this stage in my pregnancy. Hopefully just a 24hr thing.

Thanks for getting back and your support.

Xxx

Meantime make sure you rest as much as you can-try to drink some water or suck on an ice cube If you feel hungry eat something light [dry toast -tea biscuit] and it does not make you feel sick

Hope you feel better soon

Thanks Janet. Pharmacy said diorlyte rehydration was safe in this instance too so taking that.Xxx

Oh love that sounds miserable! Hope you’re feeling better soon. I’ve not had this while pregnant but when my little one brought it home from nursery it was brutal but over very quickly so 🤞 Don’t be afraid to go in if you think you’re dehydrating x

Thanks Solly - lots of fluids today so hopefully over the worst.

Yes nursery is the culprit for sure!

Hope you are doing well xxx
