my son has been turned right after 36th week usg scan revealed he is in breech position.
It was not painful, just a bit of uncomfortable with all the pressing on your tummy. After first unsuccessful approached they sais my abs are too strong (yay! ;)) and they had to give me some drug to relax my muscles and tried again, this time successful. My son left his one foot in my birth canal so I had to stay in the hospital overnight as this could a) start labour soon, b) he could still turn back, and they wanted monitor us.
None of this sceneraio happen and I went into spontanous labour 3.5 weeks after turning him.
If you are trying to avoid C-section (like me) then go for it, I'm sure you and the baby will be fine!
Ah thanks so much! This has cheered me up! Yep definitely trying to avoid a c section - but at peace if I have to resort to it at the end of getting turned.
Glad it isn't too painful, as sometimes I don't believe them when they say this at the hospital!
I really want to be like you and spontaneously go into labour as had so much intervention last time.
I hope your "turning baby" experience will be as good as mine. I would def do it again and I'm so glad I had the option to do it.
My spontaneous labour was really long and painful (nearly 40hours!) 🙈🙈 with a scare of c-section at the end, but at the end my son was born naturally with help of forceps.
I hope this labour will be fast and with no complication for you
Hello, my daughter was in the breech position at 34 weeks and I was given the option of an ECV. I did lots of research and personally decided against it. It was mainly the chance of success with it being my first pregnancy that put me off and the risk of an emergency C-section which I wanted to avoid at all costs. I also had other medical issues which meant I doubted they would be successful and I was worried my daughter would go into distress during the procedure. I personally did not mind a planned c section having had a fibroid removal which is even more invasive and recovered quite well.
I would have probably opted for turning if it was not my first pregnancy as a colleague of mine told me she had her baby who was lying across her belly in the transverse position and she had a positive experience with an ECV. She said it was uncomfortable not painful. So if you are inclined to go for it, then you should.
For me the odds of a successful ECV were too low for me to risk it. I just wanted my baby in my arms safely with little to no stress.
