Anyone had a low lying placenta before ? I’ve had a scan today and it was found to be very close to cervix but thankfully not covering. I know I’m most women it moves up but I don’t ever seem to have things go right . Feeling a bit fed up as just seems to be one problem after another ! 😔 just after some reassurance x

low lying placenta
Hi! I’ve been told mine is covering my cervix so feeling a bit anxious. I know it’s common in the 2nd trimester and that it can move but worried it could result in some sort of complications during the birth, whether than can be natural or is a section. I was told to avoid high impact movements, which I wasn’t doing anyway, and also to avoid intercourse! Eek! I’m getting a scan at 30 weeks to see if it’s moved. Apparently it needs to be at least 2cm away from your cervix to have a natural birth but if it was close to that I’d be very anxious. My midwife also said we are at greater risk of bleeding so if you do get any you’re to go get it checked out xx
Hi 👋🏻
Yes, I had a low lying placenta in my recent pregnancy, it was originally covering my cervix at 20 weeks. We had regular scans and it was confirmed at 36 weeks that it had moved enough out of the way. I have to say I did worry about it quite a bit during the pregnancy so was relieved when it had moved. Like you said, it does move for the majority of people and the fact it’s not covering your cervix is positive. I was told it has to be a minimum of 2.5cm away. Good luck for the rest of your pregnancy! ☺️ x
I have the same and a scan booked at 32 weeks. I can understand being worried. I am trying to just wait until then and chat with consultant until then before I even think about birth. It can't be changed not going to think about it until I have to. 💜
Main thing to remember is that they are aware of this situation and will be scanning you regularly to check the position of the placenta
Take care
